rustler slowed down?
about a week and a half ago i started a thread on my batteries not putting out the same power as before. one is a traxxas 7-cell 3000 and the other is a venom 7-cell 5000. the traxxas is a little less than 7 months old. the venom about 6 months old. about 2 weeks ago i went to run my rustler with the traxxas pack, and it seemed like it was on training mode. then i tried the venom and it had more power, but now i notice its nothing like it used to be. i did the whole run them down and charge slowly thing. i was thinking maybe its not the batteries? whats the chance of them both losing power at the same time? what else could it be?

yup, the traxxas pack came with the rustler. yea i hears from another person 6 months is about right for a nimh. thats just crazy, i mean 6 months and i paid $45 for the venom. thats a lot of money for only 6-7 months of use. i could buy a real nice lipo for that. thats what im going to is lipos, probably turnigy. but not until feb-march. yea my uncle has a rustler with the same pack. its only been ran like 3 times. so basically a brand new battery.

yea, i agree. im going to my uncles here in a bit and gonna borrow his traxxas 7-cell 3000. i'll bring it home, charge it at 4 amps and see how it runs. i could tell just by giving it throttle with the rear tires off the ground. my venom makes my tires balloon, the traxxas dont. so if my uncles makes my tires balloonn, then im sure it my pack going down hill. i'll still run it. first i'll run my pack a few minutes, then i'll run his. i'll then post the results when im done.

That may be part of the issue. Don't charge a 3000mah battery at 4amps.

Not sure about the traxxas batteries, but on two venom nimh packs ive had individual cells give out under load and recover to normal voltage once off load. Nimhs are trickier to keep at optimum performance than lipo. Have you discharged them before each charge? What temps are they getting to at the end of a run?

You could actually be over discharging them. Nimhs should be discharged to .9v per cell. You should stop the car after the batteries have dumped and discharge them to the right level on a charger or other device (an array of automotive bulbs is a popular choice). Doesnt sound like heat is the problem. They should stay under 120 if recall correctly.

well my traxxas pack is definatley going to sh*t. i just ran my uncles traxxas 8.4v 3000mah hump back pack and my rustler flew! like it used to. his pack only has like 4-5 runs on it. the tires would balloon a bit just like the venom pack. oh well, its not that far off until end of feb. beginning of march. then its lipo time!

well normerly i stop once the car starts getting real slow. then let the pack cool, and charge it. i only ran them down a little more because i was told to. then charge them slowly. do that 2-3 times to re-cycle them. charging at 4 amps on the 5000mah venom shouldnt hurt it,should it?
