I see people post up about AE shocks from time to time. I don't see the issue. I have had Associated shocks on something for several years. I never have had an issue with them leaking.
My Kyosho ultima sc (rtr) shocks on the other hand leak bad....I just pour oil on the outside of the shock body now just to make it look like I tried to keep oil in them...LOL

ae has their first major revision to their shocks in 25yrs b/c enuff people whined bout havin to make a lil effort in buildin them and now u want big bores lol.

perhaps folks need to take their current shocks and shove em up some1s backside til they acquire a bigger 'bore' themselves.

in fact this thread has been a 'big bore'

AE SHOCKS ARE SO GOOD

that you have to use somebody else's o-rings to make them work in an acceptable manner

I wasnt aware of any leaking shocks, my RTR ones never showed any signs of it and i just upgraded last week to the v2 shocks

They are very easy to build and the separate cartridge on bottom with the o-rings is nice/easy for rebuilds and should be cheap

I have heard so much good stuff about them, even another company putting them in their kits because they where so great

Well to answer your ??? T-bird

I buy the o-rings in bulk 100 at a time so i can rebuild my shocks bi weekly.

I chose not to use AE orings for one the $$$$ and two i wanted to find a different alternative to what they offer.

It's a fact that when you build AE's V1 1/10 shocks to AE spec (as in AE instructions) they leak.

The V2's when built to spec are a major improvement, but still do leak a little, but in my experience not nearly as much as the V1's.

TRX, the trick to make AE shocks not leak has been to use 3mm o-rings for years...It's been that way since 1995, it was that way in 2000, 2005, and now.

I ran Jammin 3mm orings for awhile in the oring clip pack style old shocks and they worked great.

I now run 1/8X1/4 X-rings in my V2's and my shocks are Golden.
