T-Bird, Yes the caps are there for any instance of a large amount of power draw, be it come from the demand of the servo or the motor. This is also why you see companies like Tekin recommend running both caps on the RS series esc if your running the 550 motors because they can pick up the high power demands without having to run that instant jolt of power from the battery and through the esc. The caps are just a stabilizer since they can charge and burst if needed instantaneously.

The biggest demand on the internal BEC is actually when the brushless servo's try to re-center, this is usually when you see the problems with the rx and esc briefly shutdown from the amperage draw.

The only way you can really benefit from an external BEC is if you are using high voltage servos from something like a helicopter. I know a few people that run heli servo's and external bec's on their cars just for the speed and the torque.

Personally I run the fastest servos possible, I have a hard time driving with the slower servos. It's all personal preference though. You can always slow down a fast servo in the radio tuning but you cant make a slow servo faster =)

I was having this problem today, glad I found this

Does it have to be on the Aux port, or will the bind port work? I have my transponder and Castle motor fan plugged into the aux port of my Spektrum SR3500

I have a dx3r and was using a sr300 rx. Bought a spektrum s6040 servo and it worked terribly. Would not respond correctly and was making my sr300 trip out. Threw in a new sr3100 dsm2 rx and it works fine. Had another buddy of mine have the same issue while using a dx2.0 and sr300. He bought a new dx3r and problem solved.

Spektrum really needs to do something about these servos not working correctly with their lower end radios/receivers.

Am i supposed to mount my transponder to the top of my servo is that where everyone puts them?

For now ThunderbirdJunkie is stuffing his rental transponders between the battery and the battery foam with a little notch cut out. Next week, procuring a personal transponder and it will be used with an actual mount built around the stock servo mount.

Dunno if that helps (probably not) but there's more than one way to skin a cat.

As far as the capacitor thing, can't answer that since there's never been a servo that cost more than about $40 in one of ThunderbirdJunkie's race cars

This is odd. I'm running a JR- 9100S servo with a Tekin Rs Pro with zero problems.. I'm using a older JR FM radio too. Now the servo will cut throttle if I'm using my VXL ESC and that was with a 27t brush motor. You sure you're not running in a fast mode(it's a setting on the radio that increases servo response speed) that will make it act funny. Also what servo did you buy? Did you buy a HV servo by mistake? Those need 7.4volts

I got my Spektrum SPM1600 today and plugged it into the bind port of my SR3500. I can work the steering servo all day and no problems, without it I can't go more than one turn of the wheel without it cutting off.
