You're getting 44 / 44.1 / 44.2 info mixed up. No mystery to be solved here. Just go enjoy the car.

Thank you for that! So then why would the manufacturers say the new bodies dont fit?

44.1 body will fit but you need to shave off some of the original 44 chassis, where it tapers out to the sides../ \ It's not much and is easy to do with a dremel.

Azarashi
Hey guys,
I've been speaking with Azarashi about distributing their bodies and possibly the Grayseal b44 / b44.1 conversion. How much interest is there in this conversion? It looks pretty rad and would make a killer light weight platform but I wanted to see what the b44 community has to say. Street price should be about $245 but I might be able to import it in for a little lower depending on interest and quantity. I'd really appreciate everyone's thoughts. Thanks. Here is a link to the kit: http://www.team-azarashi.com/framepage3.html I like how it also comes with a body and undertray so you're not wandering the earth looking for something that fits! |
just got a b44 and putting new diff gears in as maintenance. old ones were not bad just looked worn. looked like old white grease that had turned in to powder in the housing. do you guys run any lube on the ring and pinion gears or leave them dry.. it does not show to lube them in the manual...
thanks |

thanks Page 5 Step 3 at the bottom shows to put some diff lube on the diff and drive pinion gears. I use 1-2 drops of 50wt shock oil instead. Regardless, use one or the other in there. Also, ignore the 44.1 manual shimming of the gears and use the exact shimming instructions in the 44.2 manual. I don't know why they never correctly updated the 44.1 manual... but your gears won't last long if you don't shim it out 6/4 or 6/3 per the 44.2 info. http://www.teamassociated.com/pdf/ca...017%202013.pdf |

Hey guys...So I bought my son a b44.1 recently, and it came with a 90% complete original b44. I'm contemplating finishing it for myself just to mess around with. Is there a good resource that tells me the differences between the b44 and b44.1 (outside of the chassis, shocks, shock towers...those are the obvious changes I see so far)
Is it worth spending the $$ to bring the OG b44 up to the b44.1??? I may club race it, or just launch it on practice days...so nothing too serious. Will mostly just be backup/spare parts to my son's b44.1, but I want it functional. I know I could compare part #'s in AE's manuals...just looking for a quick list of the "Must haves" if you will. THanks. |
The OG 44 is perfectly capable. The only thing I'd change is the motor mount, as the 44's mount makes it a PITA to set the mesh. The .1's cam mount is much easier.

HEre is the list of changed parts between the B44 & B44.1
I've just received my B44 and http://teamassociated.com/pdf/cars_a...conversion.pdf Looking at it, alot of it seems to be for conveninece / Lipos. -The chassis doesn't need cutouts for cells so they're not there. -The front tower had cracking issues so lets make it thicker -Need something to hold the lipos in so lets make a new tray and cool carbon fiber battery hold downs. - Upgraded motor mount is nice -Moving the servo closer to the centeline must handle better. I may drill two holes in my B44 - From what I've read, the B44 is just as good. I'm not upgrading mine. Of course, I'm not very good at driving and it wouldn't make a huge difference. |

No one has likely answered because no one knows what to tell you because of that Traxxas VXL motor. Does it even mount & fit in the 44.1 motor mount housing ?

Heard though the grapvine,
Avid will or is working on a conversion kit, IT's an aluminum chassis/new rear deck, new longer rear driveshaft, Designed to use stock slipper set up and top deck from the 44/44.1 but makes the car the proper length to fun 44.2 bodies and size. Makes the full 8mm from the motor mount back, Not back half and slipper width. so people running the avid slipper be good to go. Hear its should be around $100 retail. So then would mean, avid conversion kit/ big bores/ and a body, and shoudl be on par with a .2 |

Hey guys I just bought and built my 44.1 this past week. I really like this car but the only fustrating thing about it is getting the correct front ride height. I can only get 18mm of ride height up front(spring collars turned all the way down). To me this seems to only be a problem because of the height of the stock front springs. I know that avid has a kit to mount big bore springs onto the stock shocks but do any other springs and collars work correctly?
