I believe I read somewhere that the 550's are expected to be adopted by ROAR for this class in 2011. It was stated by a Losi employee/driver I believe, in a thread discussing the prototype 4x4 truck they were running.

has nobody been paying much attention to AE? the RC18T2/B2 in my opinion is there "tester" into making the SC10 4x4. Belt driven, no center diff, great looking new truck. I'm gonna say we see it in like February.

I wouldn't be surprised, and it would support what is out in the market today. The flip side is that if you read anything that Rick Howhart from AE has posted, they don't seem to follow that same thinking.

As for the center diff, electric 4wd buggies have successfully gone without for years. I will also add that a few of the guys that run slash 4x4's here have taken out the diff for improved handling... If its good for their lap times on these heavy trucks, more power to them.

Just to note.. any good 4 pole 36x50mm (size of a typical 540 can) can actually easily handle these 4x4 sct's. It's just the 2pole typical sensored motor that can't take the heat... to be honest the 4pole smaller can produces nearly the same output as those new 550 motors and is more effecient. These are typically sensorless but that doesn't bother me one bit.. I've been racing w/ my castle Monster motors for years now, tried other tekin etc but always end up back w/ my MMM 1y in the truggy and MMM w/ the lektron 2200 in the buggy granted I run tekno clutches/traktion drives w/ mechanical brakes but I Love um.

I thought ROAR's approved motors were sensored only? Making the 4 pole sensorless motors illegal anyways? So right back to square one.

Agree, and fortunately what we do on the club level has worked pretty well so far and that is 2S and true SC wheels and tires. The rest is pretty wide open... We have a 1/12 truggy with the SCT tires and body (crazy looking) and at the other extreme, we have 1 of the true Losi protoypes that comes out. Most everyone runs a 550 or Velineon regardless of chassis.

Exactly, a simple and effective design that would work for a SCT

Default SCT's

Although isn't that 1/24 scale Losi SCT also 4wd, so is that there mock up replica.

So do most of us believe HPI/Hotbodies will have one out before the other manufacturers?

It seems as though hpi will get the next one out, then ae and kyosho last.

I think I would have to agree. Not sure where Losi fits in though.

I sure hope Kyosho is not last, I would really like to see one of their ZX5 tuned into a SCT, Maybe some could even just do a kit conversion. Kyosho has done an E conversion kit in the past. They would do well to try it out on a 4wd SCT.

The Ultima SC/DB is a great SC platform, low, smooth, light, balanced. Just an all around great package in my opinion.
