30 min runtimes
Hi all
Can someone tell me what is the best set up to get at least 30 mins runtime from a 2 wheel and a 4 wheel drive slash? Speed doesnt matter as it is for my 8 year old son so slow is fine so long as we can get at least 30 mins runtime . Many thanks Henry |
A 5000mah lipo should do that.
Also what esc/motor are you using in them? |
Hi Sandman thanks for the reply
They are standard motors etc Do you have to use lipo to get the result i need? Its just i want the slash to go not so fast and i hear that if you use lipo the car will nearly fly :) Henry |
You do need lipo to get 30 min runtimes. Also you can only use 2s lipos on the 2WD but you can use 2s or 3s lipos on the 4X4. A 2s lipo will give only a small boost in speed over a 6 cell nimh but a 3s lipo will have a large difference in performance over a 6 cell nimh and 2s lipo

You can also get a Titan 550 from the E-Maxx (it says Monster 550 on the motor label instead if Titan 12T). It's a 23T vs. the stock Slash 12T. It will slow the truck down considerably, and give you more run time.
I did this with my 4 year old....started him on a 5000 mAh NiMH, 23T, in training mode. He would normally get about 40 min. of run time. He's steadily progressed through full speed on the 23T, training mode on the 12T, and now to full speed on the 12T. Yes, Lipos will make the truck go faster, but it's mainly because of the additional voltage Lipos have over NiMH. If you want to keep the same voltage as the NiMH, but have the relatively constant discharge curve as a Lipo, then you should purchase s LiFe pack. As an extra bonus, they're also safer than a Lipo. |
