Default MAh for 5 min quals in 1/8th?

Im running a losi conversion that has a 15/45 with a mmp and 2050 tekin. I would like to run 4s with this set up but am looking for a lower mah than 5k. anyone have any suggestions of how low can i go in mah for 5 min quals? I would liek to not hurt the battery also.

med to large 1/8 scale track either.

I run 2 2s 35c 5000 in series(make sure they are the same brand) with an Rx8 & 2050 in my losi ,tekno buggy & run 10 mins just fine. Same gearing for the med & larger tracks. Ive gone up to a 16 tooth pinon & still come off at 154.

It all depends on your mah/min. Let's say your system mah/min is 220 mah/min. For 5 mins, the min would be the following.

220 mah/min * 5 mins = 1100 mah

Add 25 percent of of padding to keep battery safe. 1100 mah * 1.25 = 1375.

That's the absolute smallest you can go with a 220 mah/min setup for 5mins.

My 5s 1900kv buggy is about a 200 mah/min setup if u need a reference.

Most likely you are at or under 350mAH/min with that setup.. so if you need 5 minutes.. 350x5=1750mah Personally I wouldn't have different size/weight packs though as your buggy will drive different and have different ride heights for each pack.. too much adjusting. Also keep in mind lower mAH packs are not as capable of high amp draw as larger packs. Lets say you drop to a 3000mAH pack (lowest I would ever consider) you will want a pack rated for around 150amps so that means you need a 40-45c pack.

If you don't do too many practice laps you should be able to get both qualifiers in on 1 pack w/o a charge if you have 5k packs. Then recharge or swap in a new pack for the main. If you end up in the lower mains you will need at least two 4s packs (or 4 2s packs) so you can have one charged and ready if you bump.

In my experience; the closer you run a pack to LVC and the more often, the quicker it gets weak on you holder a lower voltage curve. I've never tested this but it's just a 'feeling' on how strong the packs are. Running the slightly larger 5k packs never hitting LVC, seems to keep the packs healthy for a much longer period of time. May get two season instead of 1 out of a pack set.

yes, but on a 4200 one would have to use 670 mah/minute for 5 just to get to 20% left... the 4200 is a 40c and should provide enough amps, i currently have two 4s batteries i race with, a tp 5000 40c and an ip 5400 35c, the car always seems to work better with the tp, maybe its just alittle more balanced vs the 5400, but for a 5 min qual i hardly ever use more than 2200 mah

You should pick your battery based on how long the main would likely be. Using ultra light batteries for the quals and then a heavier pack for the main could throw your handling off.

For 10 minute mains I am using 6s 2200s. 15 minute mains 3300s.

I've run both the 2650kv and 1800kv on 4s 5000mah in my RC8e. I could get about 18-19 minutes on my 2650 geared 14/50. I havent run down my pack on my 1800kv geared 19/46, but I get better mileage than the 2650. Mileage on my 2650 was around 280 mah/minute. The 1800 gets about 250 mah/minute.

My RC8e with 2650 installed.

19 minutes of runtime at racepace with 2650kv on 4s 5000 geared 14/50:

2650 geared 14/50 about 280mah/minute:

1800 geared 19/46 about 250mah/minute:

Buggy 1400kv/ 2x 3s 3300s I burn about 150-160/minute pretty consistently.

Truggy 1350kv/6s I burn from 200-275/minute depending on track. Not nearly as consistent as my buggy in terms of run time. I think my 1550t8 on 6s is more efficient in truggy. Last weekend I dumped a 6s 4000 on the last lap in a 15 minute main on a pretty large outdoor track. Same battery and gearing on another similar sized track I ran a 20 minute main.

i run one of my ACE 2600 4s 25c for my 5 min mains, with converted losi/mmm/2200. wide open fast track. i think im running a 14 tooth pinion though.my lvc cut off is also set at 3.4 volts per cell. running a 15 tooth pinion i would say about a 3300 to 3800 to make an easy 5 min
