I was looking at buying a buggy too a couple of months ago

After looking around i decided to buy a TeamC TC02

It is great , very durable and i can chase the Assosiated , Kyosho and others well with it :nod::nod:

i called my local hobby shops. no one has the rc10 b4.1.
one shop does have a rc10 b4rs (team associated) electric rtr for $150. what can anyone tell me about the rc10 b4rs. i'm willing to wait for the b4.1. i can afford to buy the right one. can't afford to buy the wrong one.

i went to youtube and checked out video after video of team associated, losi and others. RC cars are pretty damm cool. i figure when i am done, i will spend $500 to $600 or so.

i wish i had enough posts to put links to show you all what i'm looking at.

i just checked out the tc02. nice looking ride!

after i get this car, my next one will be a kit. i want to build one up from the frame to the electronics to the shell to the track.

if i knew how addicting this hobby would be, i would have stayed away. ha ha ha

I recently bought an rc10b4.1 brushless rtr, and love it to death, I couldn't be happier, it was the best $250 I've spent on r/c ever. handles like a dream, plenty of speed, it's awesome!!!

I bought a XXX-CR about two months ago and something broke on it literally every time I set it on the track. And not from high-speed collisions. Land a jump clean - SNAP - there goes an arm. Shock towers, steering knuckle, turnbuckle, etc. I used it for a few days and gave up. Switched to a Cougar SV and haven't broken anything after about 10 packs. I'm having all sorts of problems getting the diff and slipper to work properly but that's a different story.

I'm sure the Losi is great and several of the best drivers at my track run them, but I definitely wouldn't classify it as extraordinarily rugged.

Just order the 4.1 online. Don't waste your money on discontinued products. Check amainhobbies.com, stormerhobbies.com, and rpphobby.com. I've bought from all three and had great service.

Plus if the place you order from doesn't have a physical location in your state you won't have to pay sales tax. And many places, like amainhobbies, offer free shipping for purchases over $100. You'll save a lot of money that way.

i heard of amainhobbies.com. i may end up going that route. from what i've seen, the going rate for a RC10 B4.1 is about $250. some places more, some places less. the reviews posted in this thread are overall positive. rugged enough for some reasonable bashing yet responsive enough for novice racing. i have a slash 4x4 electric and a tmaxx nitro to fulfill my bashing needs. i have a coworker who use to run some RC cars back in the day. we talk now all the time about RC cars. i can see it in his eyes, "he got the jazz". :lol:

i looked at a few hobby stores in the portland area. i couldn't find anyone who had a 4.1 in stock. apparently the b4.1 brushless are flying off the shelves.

i don't know if there is s&h on top of the listing.

amainhobbies has one for $229.99.
stormerhobbies has one for $218.95
rpphobby has one for $224.99
amazon has one for $240

so they are pretty much the same as far as price goes.

i am going to check out another local hobby store tomorrow. if i can't find anyone local who has one i will use an online shop. i like to keep my local hobby stores in business, we'll see what happens tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure Tacoma RC Raceway has them in stock. And if you show your OR drivers license I don't think you'll have to pay sales tax. TRCR isn't far from Portland and they'll be running races Sunday so you can give racing a try if you get there early enough. It's a great track and the owner, Scott Brown, is a team driver for Associated so he can hook you up with a great setup. They have a huge stock of parts and accessories too.

I wouldn`t classify any 1/10 buggy as being extraordinarily rugged . They all can and will break . I think both Losi and AE are top notch . Some people have better luck with one then the other , which is due to driving style . I`ve heard people say the xxx breaks everytime they drive it , same thing I hear about the B4 . Bottom line buggies break , especially running mod .

To the OP , if you want a RTR I would go with the B4 . If you can hold out for the B4.1 you will be much happier as it has upgrades to some issues the B4 had . If not the B4RS is still a great buggy , just shocks need more attention . One thing that is good with the B4 RTRs once you get better at racing you can upgrade parts to have a FT B4 and have a top end racer .

If you want a kit and buy your own electronics there are a few choices in brands that are all good . Like AE , Losi , TQ Racing , and Kyosho . If you don`t/can`t buy new , you can find many good deals on used buggies and electronics on RC Tech`s classified section and even post a wanted ad for what your wanting .

i tried another hobby shop here in town and no luck. i am going to go with an online dealer. most likely rpp hobby.

that would be cool. i have lots to look forward to in the next few months.

yeah, i am clearing out a spare bedroom and will put in a small table to work on. do you think i will need to pick up a soldering iron?



on a side note, one of my co-workers found his old traxxas RC truck and got it running again. :D all my talk of rc cars and youtube video watching, got him wanting to get back into the hobby again. he agreed with the posters here about going with the team associated b4.1. though he also likes losi and kyosho.

my only regret is i didn't get into the hobby sooner.

if this helps, 2 different magazines I recently bought did a review on the rtr b4.1 brushless buggy, it scored no less than 9 out of 10 in a number of different catagories, i.e. jumping,handling, tunability, durability, etc.

i just sent in my order to rpphobby. i ordered the team associated RC10 B4.1 brushless ASC9039 and two duratrax NiMH 7.2v 5000mAh batteries.

cool!!, you won't regret buying the b4.1 brushless. the stock esc has reverse lockout, voltage cut-off, lipo or nimh settings, 4 levels of drag brake. it's not as good as say a tekin, or a castle creations, but it works pretty darn good.

i will try to upload photos when it arrives. i don't know how many posts i need before i can upload photos. at the rate i'm going, i'm sure it wont be long.

my next purchase, (other than batteries) will be to purchase a kit and build one up from scratch. this wont happen until winter (jan/feb).

cool, I'ds definitely like to see it. you have to have at least 10 posts to upload photo's, you're at 15 posts so you're good to go. I have a question for you, why did you go with nimh batteries and not lipo's? I've never built a kit, all my vehicles are rtr's. I'll post a few pics of mine
