I just found out that I'll be able to pick up my new buggy at the lhs/track this weekend. :D Does anyone know if you're supposed to still put 1.5 oz. of weight in the new B4.1's in the same spots where you're supposed to put it in the B4?

Not necessarily. Cav has been running 1/2oz in front of tranny and 1/4oz in each rear triangle. His 4.1 setup is really good especially on high bite or indoor smooth tracks. The FT4.1 kit setup works really really well on outdoor/slightly rough tracks except take 1 limiter out of front and rear shocks. |

This is Cav's latest setup from Hotrod Hobbies Shootout. This was a high-bite outdoor track. Notice he used Team Losi shock oil and graphite arms.

Cav is running 2 limiters in the front but then unscrewing them a half turn?

The 4.1 includes longer front shafts so the new standard is 2 limiters under the piston. Cav must have felt like he needed a hair more downtravel.
|
Got my FT T4.1 built! Actually it probably about 4.0875.:sneaky: I had a spare chassis and bodies from my T4 i gave to a cousin so i built my FTSC10 up on it. Just need the hubs. Question for you guys though. Does the inside most hole on the new towers represent the same as the 4th hole everyone was drilling? gotta like geeting 2 trucks for the price of one, almost

Thanks,
the only thing i worry about is there is a 1/8 slop:flaming: in and out on the top shaft and for some reason i cant bleed the front shocks.:flaming: but the rest of it is great anyone else have this problem:confused: |

Started building my FT B4.1 and the fit and finish are much better compared to all the other Assoc kits I have built. Only minor problem I ran into thus far is the long screw that goes through the servo saver didn't fit through the little bearings without a little sanding that took the black finish off the screw.
Not sure if I'm feeling all the plastic opposed to carbon parts but they make up for it with other parts I guess as far as price goes. |

Makes sense, plus replacing them won't cost a few extra bucks.

hey guys got some new parts that i need to get rid of.......

Is there any list of all the new changes to the 4.1FT compared to the old FT and what those changes are? Oople has mentioned chassis, rear plate, and what seems like a lot of other parts other than the obvious shocks and towers.
|
V2 slipper hubs and spring
Gold slipper pads V2 shocks New geometry shock towers Heavy duty front axle (steel) New rear hub carriers (aluminum with .5 toe in) New rear a arm mounts (toe in) Battery thumb screws No carbon parts CVA axles |

First race with the b4.1 and tq'ed and got 3rd in the main:sneaky:

nice job zane
|
Built mine tonight. Had one of the CVA axles that wasn't milled correctly. The shaft end will not fit into it, to put CVA together. Kinda sucks, guess I will call AE Monday :(
|
The B4.1 kit really surprised me at how different it is from the B4 kits. It's really a re-designed car imo.
There's a couple things I REALLY don't like though. One being the CVA's. You have to really work to get the shafts centered, if you don't then they'll vibrate like crazy likely ruing the hub bearing life. Kinda silly how much play you can get in them. Second you gotta be really careful to only barely tighten the transmission case screws. The thread lock is a must here. The transmission spins really free until you put any torque on the screws. The cases plastic must be a LOT softer than previous ones, it's crazy how bad the tranny binds when any torque is applied to the screws. Not to mention my kit didn't come with thread lock, they really should. |
my kit's diff outdrives weren't machined correctly, such that the diff screw won't thread into the t-nut and the cva bag was missing the roll pins :(
i picked up replacement outdrives from my lhs, and faxed in ae's "defective" parts form for that, and used some solid roll pins that i was going to put in anyway. still have the v2 shocks to build. hopefully nothing is defective/missing in those bags! |

Not to mention my kit didn't come with thread lock, they really should. Double check that all your bearings are fully seated in the case halves. Second, it could be the topshaft spacer. I had to go to B4 rear axle spacer and shim accordingly. I found the topshaft spacer is a tad too long and causes it to bind when tightening down. |
What is a good wheel and tire setup for dirt grass and pavement that I can put on my t4.1
|
Just finished building my FT b4.1. And all went well as far as tolerences. It was missing two internal shock spacers so I had to use from my stash, but other then that it went together perfectly. By the way the roll pins were not in the cva bag, but in a seperate bag altogether. And My tranny does not bind at all even when tightend down.
|
Everything in mine went together great, and yes the roll pins come in a whole other bag, i think it was with the body clips and such. With the cva's you have to add a 3rd axle shim to both sides imo. My FTsc10 really needed a 3rd shim as well.
My tranny was smooth as butter and i tried cranking on the screws to see if it would bind and it didnt. MOst likely a bearing might be slightly unseated. Usually if everything is seated correctly and there is still a bind its just the case itself. The old cases were like this as well, some just didnt come out of the molds well. The manual calls for 2 shock limiters front and rear and I only got 1 each for the front shocks. No big deal though its all driver preferance, i dont like that much limiting on the tracks i run on. It is like building a whole "different" b4. the quality is much higher than even the FTB4 i built new in march( or the 6 others before that lol). Id say 85% of the kit is new/different. |
on the t4 what holes you guys running the upper tie rod in?which hole on the caster block and front tower?
