From my experiences with electric, it is better to run a low kv motor with higher voltage i.e. 1400-1800kv 5s 1800-2200kv 4s. The higher the voltage the lower the amp draw, the cooler the esc runs. Try to shoot for 30,00rpms with the motor 1800kv*18.5v=33000rpms 2200kv*14.4=31680, the 5s system will draw lower amperage through the speed control and therefore will need a lower mah battery for the same run time as the 14.4 v system. Seriuosly voltage is your friend, low kv and high voltage.

allright. update and complaint!

motor is in and running , all is well EXCEPT, great tourque, responce til about 3/4 throttle then its like i have no top end just tops out. buddies mmm 2200 just KILLS ME.
i have tweaked it with the hotwire but doesnt seem to make a big difference.

i think im going to go with a higher pinion, 18-19 tooth from 15 im thinkin, maybe the guy that suggested the 19/46 was right..lol

anyone have issues chewing up spurs? not that i am . im just wondering. got an order from amain going on right away, im either going to grab an extra spur in plastic or metal, but is the plastics are fine ill just get one of those.

Always good to have an extra spur, I bought 2 extras but have never used them as my mesh is good and I never strip spurs.
I run either 19-20/46 on the 1900.

Agreed.

I run 18-20 / 46 with a CC 1800 and while its not tearing the tires off, its got more than enough.

I carry an extra spur with me, but if you're careful on the gear mesh you'll get a lot of running out of a spur.. I've been on the stock one all season w/ Robinson pinions.

yea, with the 43/10 diffs you kinda have to gear it up a little....
with the 15/46 with the 43/10 diffs....it will be good to go will get you in the "Ball Park" as they say for most tracks.....but will also depend on the "Motor" the LRP series motor have to make sure it's set at -5 deg. and the Controller set for "0" deg timming....
all other motors are good at the settings the Manufactures recommend.
most of the people at some of the local tracks here usually gear there RC8B's (electric) at around 18-19 pinion.....on 4S with usually Tekin 2050's ,2000(truggy) and the Castle's 2200's
and they have allot of "Zing !!"

a friend has a Castle 2200 with a 18/46 and it's pretty much a "Bullet" !! and his temps are around 146
but this can vary from track to track as well.....

Default How much does it weigh with the AE Conversion

How much does the RC8B weigh with the AE Conversion? How much before the conversion? I have heard these 1/8 scale weigh too much and handling sucks compared to their nitro versions. I own the nitro version. I could convert this to electric for winter then back to nitro for the summer. Or i might get a 1/10 scale 2wd and race it this winter. I have been racing/driving for a year. Might be 2wd could train my trigger finger better than 4wd. Decisions Decisions.

Wow, being a newbie around these parts and to the RC hobby I'm feeling like I'll have my hands full when I start building my new RC8be when it arrives. I'll be doing a lot of thread reading and asking some questions along the way. It's a bit intimating after reading all that’s involved but I'm excited to get started on my first build. Now if I can only find a way to keep my 9 year old out of my box of parts while I’m trying to figure things out then I’ll be fine.

Also, this thread has been very helpful.

Default That does not seem to heavy

[QUOTE=b4maz;7700085]Mine weighs about 3850g with a 5000mah 4s pack:

That is 280 grams more than the nitro version. Have you driven the nitro version and how does it drive with the additional 280 grams? half a pound more does not seem that much more. I have not driven one my self. I was just told that electric was too heavy. For indoors this winter i am trying to choose my next electric car. We race 1/8 and 1/10 on the same track. I like the 1/8 because they dont break like the 1/10 4wd. I never drove a 1/10 4wd yet and was either going to get a durango or convert my rc8b. Going back and forth with it.
