Been running it indoors and it is by no means slow at all. The 2650 geared correctly on no added timing is just right on 3S, considering you are running a battery with the appropriate C (I run 40C thunder power) bit the cheapys would be just as good. You wanna go faster? Just add some timing via the speedo and it will change the attitude of the throttle. Wanna go outdoors on a massive track? Just throw in 4s and gear it right.

May be a good starting motor but you'll want more options than 3S and 4S. 2650 on 3S 5000mAh is about 12-14 minutes of race-time which is pretty good. However, I moved from 2650 to 1800 Castle motor and really like the benefit of being able to run anythign from 3S to 5S or even 6S if need be. Can't go above 4S on the 2650 due to Castle's rules on max voltage.
The 2650 is a hot motor and 3S is fine and fast. but the Amp draw is quite high and you may find cooler running and more options with a lower KV motor like anything from 1700-1900KV.
For Buggy conversions (and I think this year will be a huge # of buggy conversions) it is a good starter motor but I doubt many folks who start with it will be running 2650 two years from now.

I have been running the 2650 in my rc8e with stock gearing and it is FREAKING fast, it take a lot of throttle control. the motor and speed control stay relatively cool. Tuning with the the castle program can really help tune it to a controllable speed and help with the punch.

before my tekin died i was running the 2650 on 3s on indoor clay and it rocked. its beneficial for running lighter weight setups which was the idea. its geared to be as fast and run roughly as long as my castle 2200 4s system in the other buggy, but noticeably lighter.

I was just wondering, because I have both the 2200 and 2650. and just purchased the 1512 1.5y 1800kv for my buggy. I think I'm gonna try the 2650 paralelled on 3s in my other truggy.Love the 2200 in the truggy.

i always assumed the 2650 combo would overheat in a truggy...

I run the MMM 2650kv combo in my Losi 8 1.0 and have for over a year on 3s. I have 1 20C 5000mah Turnigy and 1 30C 5800mah Turnigy. I run both batteries all the way to the cutoff (3.3V per cell) and the buggy has ran flawless. I use the Spur that comes with the Losi 8 E-Conversion and ran it on 16t pinion for quite some time. Even running it as hard as can be, I never could get the motor over 175f (i know its borderline). I found that it was over geared and now switched to a 13T which lowered temps about 15 degrees.
3s and the 2650kv motor is fast..... It will still pull a nitro buggy in the straights and will break the tires loose if your not careful. I run on a medium sized track (ARC raceway) and a smaller track (West Coast RC - WCRC) and it does great there. Its really a bit too fast for WCRC actually.... you can never use full throttle.
Heres an example of my buggy on 3s with 2650kv

PS. Its most likely not a good motor/battery choice for a truggy.

i have a 2650
I love running the 2650 with a 3s lipo, I had it geared 15-45 temps was 175. Which I was overgeared, so I went to a 12-45 temps was 150. On a slick track. I will try a 11 on a better track and give a report on it in a month. But I only have 5 degrees of timing in my system, nothing else. Lipo cutoff at 3.1 per cell. The weight of a 3s lipo is the best thing about this setup, cause its closer to a nitro weight and I can run my old nitro setup!!!!! I only run 4s in a 15:00 minute mains. Iwould like to find a bigger 3s lipo pack, 5000mah is all I got. If u all know of anythang please let me know!!!!!.

The only reason that im considering trying this is that, I've got Caster truggy's w/ the dual battery setup so I can parallel them and get crazy mah.
But if it runs too hot then i'll scrap the idea. Was gonna start w/ (2) 3800's and should get 7600 mah... NO??? I can only try n see wattup.. thanx
