Default HOT FEIGAO????

I have a Feigao 8xl 2075kv motor on 4s lipo that I am running in a Xray XB8 that I converted. The motor temp is 160 with it geared 14/46. I tried to see if it was under geared and went up to 16/46 and temps got up to 190. I think if I go any lower than 14t pinion that it will be way under geared. Is there any other thing I could try to keep motor temps down. I clipped a heatsink on it but did not use thermal paste to put it on. That helped very little. Any other suggestions but throwing it in the garbage would help.

feigao motors a VERY inefficient and WILL get hot no matter what you do. heatsinks/fans can help some, but its just a bandaid for a gunshot wound...

going up in gearing will nearly ALWAYS bring temps up - - try an 13t

Arrow Pretty much it

Both gentlemen are correct, gear down to a 13T pinion then get one of those heatsinks with the 50mm X 50mm fan on them. That size fan should lower the temperatures by 12-15 degrees minimum which in most cases makes a lot of difference.

I ran two fans on an RCM heatsink and it was able to keep my 8xl around 160F as long as runs were 10-12min with my FLM Emaxx. I did use the thermal paste and with the RCM heatsink, it seemed to make a diff. I was running 5s2P a123s and just had to get used to taking a break in the pac with the 8XL. I switched to a 1515 1YF techno neu motor and temp probs were history.
