Default LRP SXX Stock Spec offroad setups

With the new batch finally shipping I figure it would be nice to have a post dedicated to the Stock Spec. Setups and advice

I ordered two on Thursday and received them Saturday. Tuesday will be the first time on the track with them. I have two RS's at Tekin right now for repair because they will not work with the 203 software. As soon as I get them back I will do a comparison between the two on a small indoor clay track in a SC and RT5. I will keep what works best for me.

Any advice for "feel" and "boost" on the LRP running a 17.5? Where should I start with the gearing?

Thanks

Damn I didn't know these were avail yet. Who has the best price?

One question can the RS or RS Pro check the motor temp like this supposedly can?

I got mine from Pacific Coast Hobby, but I think Amain, Stormer and Ampdraw have them now. The Tekin has a temp check built in. I think it's for the ESC only...not the motor. I could be wrong though.

Yeah that's what I thought but wasn't sure about the temp check I like the idea of the speedo being able to do that it pretty cool and probably more accurate.

I tried the SXX TC with my 17.5 in my SC the other day and I really liked it. Up to that point I had only used Tekin. The TC doesn't have timing boost, but it was still plenty fast with my 17.5. I'm anxious to see what the Stock Spec can do.

Oh nice! I love my SPX speedos for off-road, but I hear the tekin murders it on-road.

I hope that's not the case in offroad. I got them soldered up in both my SC and RT5 so I'll be testing them out tomorrow. When my RS's come back I will try them back-to-back and see what one I like the most.

Let me know how it goes. Mine had a small issue with a cog/hesitation once or twice during a 6 minute run. It was almost like the brakes were being applied for a split second.

Well after a little testing for Cactus it appears at this time that the best gearing I found for 13.5 is 22/81 and 10.5 is 21/81. All of which with 4 dot timing. Dont go past Boost level 4, or it is VERY hard to predict the power band for jumps and so on. X-12 Stock Spec motors were used for these test's.

Hope this helps some of you.

Thanks Scott. Have you had any issues with a cog or hesitation running the x-12's?

My settings:
SC - 24/78, 3*4*4*3, Orion V3 17.5 w/ two marks of timing
RT5 - 24/76, 3*3*4*3, Orion V3 17.5 w/ neutral timing

Thumbs up

i just installed this sxx stock spec in my b4 today.went to the track and all i can say is that this thing is a rocket!! it feels like my old b44 with a 6.5 turn. im running a x12 13.5 and its brutal power once the boost kicks in!! the temps were a little high untill i lowerd the pinion a few teeth. im running 23/78 and temped at 115-120 after about 10 min.esc temped around 98.you really gotta watch the gearing with this thing because itll definitely fry a motor if your not carefull. i would suggest nothing past 4-5 dot for boost levels on the speedo!!

With my original SPX Stock Spec I never really ran higher than 4 or 5 mainly due to a lot of instant punch and it wasnt as smooth. This led to increased motor temps as well.

Dont assume that you can just go to the highest level, it WILL affect temps and most of all traction hehe
