I did it so that I could run the Hex wheels made for the B4 and Kyosho buggies. I prefer not having to pop out the front wheel bearings out every time I change or clean the front tires.

It does not offer any performance gain. It is just a preference and convenience mod.

So you really prefer having to remove your frontwheel bearings every time you change or clean your frontwheels?

It also allows you to use the same wrench front and back.

The DESC210R and DEST210R do not have wheel bearings in the frontwheels.

What I prefer is less slop and tighter tolerances. I tried hex setups when I ran the sc10 and went pack to bearings. On the new TD sc and st there is at least a performance trade off- same wheels/tires can be used front/rear. That said, my personal preference would still be bearings if I had a choice. Unless you are completely dunking the wheel there is no need to remove the bearings, and at $1 per bearing I don't mind just leaving them in the wheels.

I usually know which tire to use and don't take them off.....I wash my tires while they're on the car. Honestly....does it really take that much longer? It's not like the bearings are super tight on the wheel.

that's what I was thinking. If you are getting the bearings wet cleaning tires then you are probably doing it wrong. probably ruining your foams with dirty water

The TD ones are probably the easiest to get ahold of, and were in stock at Tower last I checked. We've been using single taper- haven't tried the dual taper yet. As for the quality, the TD, Ghea, and the ones we got from Nick on Oople are all great quality/fit.
