Moving battery below chassis on Slash
#1
Hi everyone, I'm a new member and ordering my first SC truck this week.
Have decided on the Slash and trying to come up with low-fi ideas to lower the CG.
I'm planning on bashing and racing with it and since I haven't touched rc in about 18 years I decided to go with the Slash over the Blitz. Only because of the waterproof electronics which I think will add tons of value out-of-the-box to the Slash.
That being said, the slash doesn't seem like a great handler due to its high cg. Want to stay relatively spec and I'm thinking that strapping the battery below the chassis (between the skids) will really improve the handling.
So far I'm considering either an aluminum plate or maybe some fairly thin SS which could be easily curved to act as a cradle.
Any thoughts/ideas?
Thanks!!

You will not be able to run spec class at most tracks, it has to be box stock, very few changes like radio and alum. Shock caps are the norm other than that you can’t do anything, that’s what keeps/makes the spec class fun and cheap to run

But let's say to run in the mod class or just for the sake of better handling while bashing.. I saw one post in this forum and it seemed to work for him.

a local guy made a peice of aluminum that wraps around 3 sides of his lipo and screwed it onto the chassis, and slides the lipo in the side, and I think its zip tied in from there, and it runs fast, but its a 13.5 sc class, so I can't coment about spec

Thanks for the input everyone.
Wanted the blitz originally and the most common comment when comparing them was the high cg. but based on your comments and further research it seems to be easily fixed with some basic tweaks.
Picking mine up at lunch tomorrow. Can't wait!!
