Questions?? Electric motor questions

This has been bothering me. Do 1/8 and 1/10 scale use the same size electric motors (arn't they both 540 size)? Do they use the same size motor mount screws and is the configuration (distance between screws) the same? I guess what i'm asking is can you mount a 1/10 540 size motor in a say 1/8 E-buggy? I know that motors are sold as either 1/8 or 1/10 but what is the difference? Also how come the 1/8 motors are only give a kv rating and 1/10 motors give either a kv or turn rating? Thanks for any help clearing this up for me.

The 1/8 motors are larger then the standard 1/10 540 size motors. The motor screws are in the same location and distance spaced as the 540 size. I guess to answer the question you could mount that motor in a 1/8 E buggy but you won't have the speed due to esc volt limitations , motor torque and there will be an excess in motor heat, good chance of a motor melt down. Save your money and invest in a 1/8 esc motor combo
