well ever corr truck in stock has some problems
if he gone bash get him a slash
if he gone race get him a sc10 ebay chassic brace and let him have fun.

the reason i say no to the blitz is the stock servo sucks and the speedo runs really hot

They are both equal in out of the box durability.

The sc10 is based off of the t4 and the majority of parts are interchangable. I would suggest sc10, but its best to buy what is locally supported in your area. If your buying off the internet, either one is fine.

I was leaning towards the SC10 also, I don t know, I think Traxxas left a deep really bad impression on me with T Maxx and Revo s reliability issues and fragile plastics.
Might b completely wrong when it comes down to the Slash tho.
TY for the opinions.

The 2wd Slash is known for its extreme durability. SC10 & Blitz allow for more adjustability but are not known to be as durable. One guy that owns all 3 once told me he feels his Blitz is the most durable and best driving out of the 3. Many people like the Blitz, but I've never owned one. Have a Slash and it requires the least amount of wrenching of the 5 cars we own.

Will need some upgraded shock tops and rear hub carriers at some point if you're doing much on a track; about $25 for both. Don't know about the Blitz, SC10 may likely require far more in upgraded parts for durability.

Default Slash fo sho

You cant go wrong. They are very forgiving to new drivers and they are crazy durable also you can buy spare parts or hop up parts almost anywhere. With the 4X4 Slash coming out you are going to see the prices drop on the 2X2's You can find them brand new in the box for 159.00 shipped on EBAY or I found mine for $135.00 with a spare body and in great shape on Graigslist for $135.00. If he has never driven RC;'s before this will be a great first car that is 100% waterproof.

I have an sc10 know, I had a slash first, I like them both, but if your getting a 13 yo a first car and you don't want to spend alot the slash for sure, bullet proof and lots of fun to drive, bash or race it's a good value, if your only gonna race then I'd say sc10 otherwise the slash IMO.

for someone with no RC experiance I would go with the Slash. He can still go to the local track and race, plus he's not going to get all bumbed out when he makes a rookie mistake and brakes something... because the Slash really is a tank!

I have 2 boys ages 5 and 10 and they both have slash's. Both kids bash them and race them. The one truck is over a year old and it has been though rough driving by both boys (and me) and it's still going strong, minus the motor. When we race I have them take off the tires to clean them so that they feel like the are wrenching on their truck just like dad. Get the slash and dont look back...great way to get into rc.

This is an easy one. 13 year old? Reliable? You go with the Slash. The SC10 is not a good truck for a beginner. The SC10 is a great pure racer, but the electronics are unreliable, period! It also handles like garbage out of the box. The Slash has great electronics and they are waterproof. It is a very forgiving truck right out of the box. It is also the most indestructible SC truck you can get.

I have been looking at both the SC10 and the HPI Blitz. I would like to get everyones opinion on both trucks as to all the good and bad points of each truck.

Since it is for your 13 year old I would go with the Slash. Most durable of them all, parts are everywhere and there are plenty of aftermarket hop-ups for it to.
