i beleive the 5700kv castle motor is faster. I know on 3s lipo its crazy , never had a problem with this motor and i have been using it for a few years now and this i owned 3 of them all for different vehicles , just gear right to keep temps in the right range and you should be perfect. Very fast motor , trust me ...

Which is better could be debated until we are blue in the face. The 5700 is way faster, but many racers say its too fast for off-road. If you have a good ESC then cogging and rough starts are not going to be an issue with either. The one that is best for your application will depend on what you are using it in, what batteries you will be using, where you will run it, and more.

13.5 ss: slower (not to slow) and smoother
5700: faster, but it has lag/cog and is not smooth at all
if your going to be racing then the 5700 is pointless, you have to race in mod class, and its not much of a racing motor
but if ur bashing, or impressing ur friends in front of your house then the 5700 is perfect

I race with my 5700 in mod SC, it's fast but you can turn down the power and learn throttle control. And I have never had an issue with cogging, if you are cogging chances are your battery sucks or your gearing is wrong.

It's coming out of, not going in. I had it in my SC10, it's fine on track because it's somewhat limited once you get used to it, but anywhere else stuff breaks quick it's way to fast. But I never really noticed any cog issue with it. I'm not on Castles band wagon either, I would still pick Tekin over CC any day.

Cogging is a thing of the past. If you still have cogging on a sensorless controller then you are doing something wrong, or you have faulty equipment. It still seems to be the sensored guys "go to" argument on why you need sensored motors, but its a non-factor. Any decent controller is smooth on startup and braking. I use both sensored and sensorless right now. The only reason I even have sensored is because all I ever heard from people is how much smoother it is. 2 years ago it was smoother......

alright it looks like im gonna go with the 13.5. the reason i was asking was that im trade a guy my xxx-t with the mamba for a slash with the novak. so i wanted to keep my motor because ive raced with it before so i was used to it but i would have to DISagree with that whole lag thing. this motor is very quick with throttle response. and i just wanted to get into short course so i didnt know a whole lot about what motors are good in these trucks.
im just using 6 cell nihm pack 5100 and a 3600 ( i need more batteries )

re novak 13.5 vs mamba 5700
i reluctantly bought a novak havok pro 13.5 brushless systemand installed it in my blitz for racing and it was crap. the thing had no power not to mention the full brake setting was still no where near enough brakes .
novaks are a real pain in the ass when you want to change your settings. holding a tiny button while watching blinking lights is really annoying to say the least.
i dumped the novak and put in a mamba 4600 kv and mamba max esc. so much easier to adjust your settings. just plug the usb cable into your esc from the computer and it takes less than a minute.
on the track the mamba transformed my blitz into a decent race truck with lots of power. the novak 13.5 was a real dog compared to the mamba 4600. ive never had cogging problems with any mamba systems ive used.
ill never buy another novak brushless system thats for sure.

You can't compare theese motors they are totally different from each other.
Novak is smoother but mm is not that bad at all the 5700 is = to a 5.5 total power wise the kv is just different.
As for the post above me it makes no sence as the 13.5 is stock or pro stock or super stock depending on rules.
You switched to a 4600 = to a 7.5 thats mod

Z-FIRE is right. A 13.5 novak is 3300kv and yes it will be slower than 4600 or 5700kv castle- DAAAAH - I have raced LOSI and CASTLE sensorless and they worked ---BUT---When you get into a crash and are stuck in a corner waiting till the esc orients itself. What we need faster turn marshalls to push forward alittle to start faster? I switched to sensored and never looked back. I've talked to guys at the track that said they never have cogging problems. HAH They lie, I've seen the pause and trigger fingers trying to get started again.
