Best 1/8th buggy motor/esc combo?
Im currently race mbx6 and there is a big ep race coming up in a few months.I was thinking of turning the 6 to a Tekno 6e but dont know electrics that well.
Whats the best motor/esc combo?
I would like reliable,
Silly fast, but if possible tuneable with softwhere which can tune the power cerve or detune it for that mater and most importly reliable and fast.
Any recomemdations?
Also is there any bad feedback on the tekno chasis conversion?Or would i be better of getting the losi 8e or rc8e?

I have run the Tekin 2050 and 1900 systems on 4s with great sucess. I have also ran the Castle MMM with a Neu 2050 on 4s with the same sucess.
I personally prefer the Tekin.
They are both reliable systems and are completely tuneable via computer.
Take your pick. You need to decide what battery you will be running and then pick your motor.
example, 4s=1700-2200kv
5s=1500-1900kv
6s=1300-1700kv

I have run almost all of them and in my opinion the Tekin RX8, 1400 kV motor, on a 6S 3000 to 3300 lipo is the best. Great power, lots of torque, and most important low motor and esc temps. Also the low end driveablity with this setup is awesome.

I agree with what's been said. You would get a lot more input if you offered what battery(s) you would run.
On 4s the 1900 or 2050 is what the majority is running.
On 5s most flock to the 1700.
On 6s the 1400 is sweet setup.

Tekin is my preferred choice. I've ran 2 of them and have had no problems so far. Even managed to run a buggy combo on my truggy with no problems. 2050kv combo will be my choice on 4s. Good luck.

The Mamba Monster 1/8 ESC is extremely dependable. This is what I use and I love it!
I've heard mixed results on the Texin stuff but no direct experience.

Well I just got a good deal on the Losi buggy with the stock xcelorin since it has been mentioned. What are the chances of getting one that works well? It is new in the box. Does anyone think that Losi will get this thing sorted?
Can you use the xcelorin motor with the MMM speed control?

Since I bought my rx8 and 2000kv motor for my eRevo, I have ran several 4 cell packs through it. Its got a handful of torque, super fast top end, and it a handful to control. The adjustability with the hot wire is incredible, and I would highly recomend it to anyone.

........Now only if Tekin would get rid of that hard to read, gothic red and black hot wire page.........
Or at least with the next update give us a color option.

In our club (NMBC), we've had Xcelorin, Orion, Tekin and Mamba ESCs.
Xcelorin:
Ivan tried one, burnt at 1st race.
Orion Vortex8 (+1700kV / 4S):
Stanislas was happy with it for 3 races but burnt in the end.
Mamba Monster (+?kv? /4S):
J-Claude and Laurent had this ESC, great but it does not like heavy landings (2 ESC sent for repair).
Tekin Rx-8:
Baptiste, Gaetan, Julien under 1700kV / 4S: one damage out of 3 ESC after 20 months.
Fred under 1400kV / 5S: no damage after 16 months.
Frely under 1350kV / 6S: mechanical damage (solder pad broken) after 16 months.
Conclusion:
Tekin Rx-8 is the most reliable so far tested.
Obviously for all kinds of ESC, a particular attention must be paid on :
1/ soldering (wires should not weight on the solder pads)
2/ stress discoupling (do not mount hard the ESC to the chassis)
3/ water and electronics do not mix!
