Novak 6.5 failure
Hi all,
Last WE I had some fun bashing my lazer ZX5 on a concrete supermarket parking, clocking it at 71km/h with an inboard GPS phone.
But unfortunately, I burned the motor...
I will have to dismantle it to see what's wrong, rotor do not rotate any more, even with forcing it with fingers, any idea what it could be?
Would a spare sintered rotor "save it" or is it dead?

Probably just a bearing failure. It's an easy fix. I've roasted a few Novak bearings in my 6.5 when using it in my CRT.5-E.

If it's worse than a bearing, Novak has a replacement program. You can trade it in for a refurbished or new unit. Even swap winds for $5.

And I'm not sure that will work with sending motor back from Europe and getting it back, shipping cost will be worth a new motor I guess...

OK,bearing in the bell is dead.
Prolem : the kit does not exist apparently in Europe, looks like I have to buy a brand new motor if my LHS can't find this as spare...

have you tried just going to a local bearing shop and see if they have or can get a replacement....

You can also try Boca Bearings they will send you the correct size.
Just my .02, if you were going that fast, seized the bearing, you more than likely overheated the motor, and caused damage to the magnets.
You may be better replacing the motor.

The issue to change the bearing is that it looks "sealed" in the end bell, I couldn't take it out with soft tool nor with "hammer"...
