Thanks for asking. It was great!!
first off the car is way better than I am. Damn can it jump, probably 35-40 feet? This buggy is so different than the original 2wd RC-10 I competed with in stock class back in 1987.
Now I need to figure out how to tune it so that I can keep it right side up. Been reading an online tuning guide and will now start the never ending quest for the perfect setup. I think the shocks/fluid/springs are a bit soft. Only a thought, so will experiment with them.
I dont really need a ‘super response’ radio setup since I had to dial back the steering servo speed. At 55 years of age I feel like I have a pretty good reaction time, but now I kind of wonder LOL. I found out the Futaba BL servo I bought was tough enough for the punishment I gave it, and damn if I didn’t give it a lot!!! It’s only 192 oz/in so I wondered if it would be adequate. It was so far. If it fails I will buy the CB700. I managed to jam the car at full speed under the exit ramp of the pit lane WOW. Thought I surely killed the servo with that mistake.
The Protek battery took over an hour to charge at home so I only took the one battery with me. I have a venom pro quad4. 6500mah was too much. I ran it for more than one hour. I should have purchased two of the 5600mah packs instead, which in turn would save a couple ounces of dead weight in the car.
The ESC came loose from the included Hobbywing sticky tape. At home I recleaned and reattached with some 3M Extreme sticky tape. Will see how it holds on.
The wing ring took a beating bad!! Nearly tore the wickerbill off it so I just removed it altogether. I’m sure the full speed wedgie under the pit ramp didn’t help plus the countless tumbles.
The car car was brand new, but after the one battery pack, kind of looks like a basher now LOL.
Looking forward to more practicing and tuning because I want to race!! I may finish last but competing will be fun.
Came home and ordered a spare bearing kit form AvidRC, extra diff gaskets, spare shock seals and a couple more wings.

Great stuff! At age of 49 I know how it can be
Hour of runtime sounds amazing. With a pair of hv 8200's I can do propably half an hour at max.
Good luck!

I suspect hard running without wrecking, the 6200 HV won’t last as long.

Yes you can. I purchased it on eBay. It was a company in Japan and was shipped from there. Meanwhile I sent the included clear kit body off to a painter.
Both bodies are identical although the painted readyset body comes with a different sticker sheet

I've done quite a bit of running since (500 laps at least) and though I'm improving on both cars, with this short pack conversion
and the standard, I'm constantly 1-2 seconds faster with this one. I'm actually quite close to the setup in Kyosho America's
Evo setup i.e. using 1.3x8 pistons and light blue springs all around with similar oils. Hope this helps anyone!

still staying with 70mm long front springs?
light blue is even softer than the stock gray springs.
i wonder if Ben Watson’s setup is with Blue (blu as he wrote it) or light blue springs?

Yes they are lighter
I don't know if he really means blue, or light blue that are more common (and included at rear in stock kit)
