XFactory SCX-60!

This short course truck is #3 in existance. The chassis and rear bumper mount were custom fabricated by one of my teammates, Chris Kreig. We really worked overtime to get this build done in time for Adam Joiner's 2009 "Corr Cross" and were excited to compete with it, but the rain won again. I dubbed the truck SCX-60, and it includes JConcepts rubber, Losi suspension, Novak GTB/10.5 power, Spektrum electronics, Thunder Power 5000mah/40c lipo juice, MIP cvd's, and of course...ALOT of XFactory candy. Enjoy!

Here come the race SCTs!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

Now I think Losi should should release a XXX-SCT with DT trans. (it has to exist):D

Awesome truck!!:D

azrc10t 09-13-2009 12:42 PM

I would buy one of these right now. I have a slash and it cant compete with the sc10's so I bought an sc10. Dont care that much for it, seemed like a lot of set up. The losi sct looks ok but I'm not sold on that yet either, the only thing I like is the mid motor. I have never owned HPI so i dont know about the blitz. I guess what i want is a race sct, and from these 2 pics this one looks legit. I also read that x-factory has no plans of putting a sct into production.....is this true?

glitch48 09-13-2009 04:01 PM

sweet looking truck

Where are the pics..............sounds like an awesome truck!!:D

Nah they should make a XXX-SCT but make it a straight up converted xxx-t.
(or a conversion for us losi guys with a backup car lying around.)

dgdcustoms 09-13-2009 06:00 PM

Nice work there Chris!! Just had to tease us some more huh?? I am still thinking of doing one myself.

RCHobbyGuy 09-13-2009 06:03 PM

All a XXX-T needs is a longer chassis and bumper/bodymounts, I got plenty I could convert. DT trans optional.

Now that the pics are up I'm impressed that thing looks really nice!.....and FAST!!:sneaky:

travisimo 09-14-2009 10:51 AM

wow

hey chris...i heard if you change the spur gear on that you can make banjo music come out of it:lol:...nah...jk that actually makes closed wheel look cool nice job!

msedsp 09-14-2009 12:50 PM

I've held the other truck like this (mikes) and who ever glued up the chassis did such a good job you almost cant tell that it's not factory, you'd have too see one up close to see what I mean.

Bob Moore 09-14-2009 03:19 PM

I'll take one.
Man that SCT is bad a$$
So who is doing the mods for them?

CCristo 09-14-2009 05:00 PM

Is that truck #2 in existance or #3? Here is one I made about a month ago :)

SpeedyDad does much cleaner chassis work than me.. That rear bumper mount is nice

BMXRDAD 09-14-2009 06:24 PM

These trucks look great! I have a few Losi DT I should convert.
What are you using for the glue?
I think I have my next project:tire:

Great job!

SCX-60

Hey Chris. Long time no see. Hey man, good job on the truck. I may stand corrected...but hey, does it really matter? You going to the clash again? Columbus? I guess I'll see you when I see you. It was good to hear from you...hit me with a pm or email sometime...

SpeedyDad 09-14-2009 07:20 PM

SCX-60 - I like that better than X-60SC which is what I was calling it. SCX-60 sounds better. From now on, that's what it shall be.

That looks great Chris. I see you chopped off part of the bumper mount. Let me know how that works out. I've been thinking of eliminating it from any future ones I make to make it easier to mill.

BTW - Of the official XFactory trucks, sorry to say but yours is truck #3.
Alex has truck #1 (of course, he's my kid)
Mike Ciresi has #2
You got #3

I'll do one for myself somewhere down the road when my Slash wears out. I'm having too much fun racing it for now. I built truck #1 for myself actually but Alex drove it and then stole it so I went back to my Slash.

CCristo 09-15-2009 02:44 AM

I was just messing with you Chris B. It doesn't matter who has what # truck. It's cool to see these conversions popping up and how people are making the rear body mount/bumper mount.

I'm booking the flight for the Clash this week and plan to go to CRCRC again

YoungChazz 09-15-2009 07:25 AM

Great to have you along, Chris.

YoungChazz 09-15-2009 08:40 PM

I think you guys should just call them the SCX.

We'll have to put that one before the board of directors for approval. LOL! I think it is a great idea and a great building block. "SCX"...."SCX-2, 3, 4 and so on. Hmmmmmmm?????

Fabulous 09-16-2009 06:51 AM

Well??? Is X-Factory coming out with this convertion? I'm waiting...:nod::nod:

SCX is a Slot Car company, I think you'd have an issue pulling that name off.

cmenard 09-16-2009 07:52 AM

I'd buy one as well. SpeedyDad, are you going to make some chassis'?

Curtis

glitch48 09-16-2009 02:53 PM

Could the rear bumper mount be placed into production to make a SCX-60?

Axial had no problems using it for their scale crawler

If SCX slot car wanted them to stop they'd have a good case. Could be that they aren't aware of it. Trust me, knowing about some of the trademark name issues we've dealt with it's always best to use a name that isn't used anywhere else in the hobby industry.

This is nothing against Chaz or X-Factory as I think they make some very innovative products. If anything it's a heads up to check this out before proceeding to ensure they won't have a naming issue in the future. SC makes sense in the name since it is a short course truck and I get the X-60 reference for their 1/10-scale stadium truck. The logical thing is to put one with the other for the naming. But sometimes the logical thing isn't possible due to other trademarked names.

This type of thing is actually why the Hobby Shack had to change the franchise name to Hobby People. RadioShack has "Shack" trademarked and Hobby Shack came up on their radar and threatened the Hobby Shack with legal action. Hence the change to Hobby People. In many ways they are totally different retailers but the trademark was broad enough that RadioShack was within their legal rights to send them a cease and desist.

Amazing! Wow, you sure do know your stuff dude. Only problem is that your horse is way ahead of the cart. These sc trucks are just something a couple of us team guys decided to do. One team guy named his X-60SC, and as per my original post, "I" labeled "my" truck the SCX-60, and Chazz said that "we" should call them simply SCX. There are no immediate plans to produce this truck or conversion kit, but....hey....thanks for the heads up anyway.

How does it do in the handling department? I always thought the motor could be moved inwards because my SC10 seems to fish-tail alot...

SpeedyDad 09-21-2009 05:41 PM

It handles great. At the ROAR Electric Nats this year in Omaha, it had the fastest laps in almost every heat it was in. It was visibly faster in the corners. It just didn't have to slow down as much to make the corners.

MrLesac 09-21-2009 06:20 PM

I ended up winning a sc10 in our local points series this year!!!! so ill definately be getting one sooner than i thought

t4_driver 09-21-2009 06:51 PM

The more I see of this class the more I like. Good inexpensive trucks that are fun as heck to run. Now that's a winning formula. I am hoping more companies come out with a SC truck
