From Castle's FAQs

Windows Vista Installation:
1. Download the software to your computer.
2. Right click on the downloaded file and left click "Run as Administrator".
3. Run the software clicking through any and all warning messages and the link will be installed.

If you download the latest version from Castle's download page save it to your desk top. Then Right click and hit install as admin. As said above click through any warnings and allow it to install. It should work with no issues. I have it installed on two laptops one with Vista 32 bit and one with Vista 64 bit it works on them both with no issues. Do not try to install off the supplied disk. Download from Castle's site.

I have vista as well. I did the "Run as Administrator" and it worked fine. Make sure it's uninstalled then try it again.

Best of luck. I'll try to think if I did anything else and PM you or something.

It does work on Vista. A Computer is a computer. The fact it is a desktop is not a variable in the software/hardware working properly.

Desktop or laptop it shouldn't make a bit of difference. Just clear your system on any past failed installs. Throw away the disk and download the latest version on to your desktop or into your download folder. Once you have it on the computer Right Click and run as Admin and you should be fine.

"Click" through any warnings that say it's not approved or anything like that. Allow it to install.

They did just update things. 08-05-09
I have been programming EEprom's a long time and it has always had to be done on a PC. I think it has something to do with VBS, which you will not find on a mac. You could always run windows on your mac or even run Vmware.
Or just use the Vista machine you have
