Default Help for Lipo Recommendations

I need recommendations for Lipo Packs.

To fit on 1/8 truggy on 2050kv motor. I suppose 8000mAh packs will be able to last 20min at least. I know Maxamps have them but what other brands can be considered?

My battery tray can accomodate length - 140mm, Width - 47mm, Height - 31mm or if need be, batts will additional height will be secured with Velcro straps.

Hobbycity has a Zippy 4s1p 5000mah 30C pack 140x48x33mm for $79, and a Zippy 5s1p 5000mah 30C pack 145x48x40mm for $99.

They should work for you.

Don't start with expecting 8000mAH - maybe you can do it with 5000mAh and 6S1P. More choices with that size. Meaning - buy a lower-cost Rhino or Zippy 5000 20C 6S1P perhaps, run it and determine your runtime. If you need more - look for another pack.

Does he really need to go to a 6s1p!?!?! My buddy is using a 4s & 5S in his Jammin' and with the 5S that thing is crazy. He got a call from Nasa, and they are going to come to the track this weekend and certify it so its a qualified land missile!

For a 2050kv, probably not necessary for 6S1P. Maybe for longer-runtime. But he's talking 8000mAh and if you had a 4S1P 8000mAh - you could go the route of 6S1P 5000mAh to get similar runtime with lower pinion size. That's 32Ah vs. 30Ah total "capacity".

SMC has 6000mah lipos available. I have never used one of them but I race with some of their smaller mah lipos and they work very well.

I saw those too but am not sure if 6000mAh will last 20mins. I consumed abt 2300mAh in the 7min Heats during the last race.
My set-up: 2 x 2s 5000mAh in series, 2050kv motor, 43/10 front/rear gear ratio, 62t Spur, 16T pinion.
So, based on the expended mAh, I should need at least 6500mAh packs to last 20mins.

I know you're only trying to change one parameter - battery capacity. Is that strictly all you can change?

Once you get past 15-minutes, you have to really look to lower the KV in the motor and go with more cells. 5S1P in a 1600KV motor will give you 20+ minutes. Heck - use 3 x 2S1P packs wrapped up into a series 6S1P and use a 1200-1300KV motor, perhaps. That's what some guys are doing for longer Truggy races. They seem to do this after first going for higher KV motors.

Tht'll mean an additional investment for a lower kv motor and changing of more batts.
