Slash Tooth Pinion
I'm new to rc racing, i have a slash and was wondering weather i sould put in a 22 tooth Pinion gear or a 23 my unkle says a 22 tooth is the best way to go :p but just making shure.

What exactly are you looking to do? why are you looking to change?
On the track I spend most of my time, I've settled on either 19 on pinion or 20 BUT I am running an 83 spur. With some modification, I would like to try a 16 with that 83 and shoot corner to corner but that's for later testing. Simply moving up on the pinion from stock will get you more top end but even in stock trim, most tracks don't have the space (around here) to top out the truck. I find I am better being slower on the top end, just get there faster, why I've settled with what I am running 20/83 |
15/86 is what I used in mine with the stock esc/12T.
18/86 with the VXL. |
So if i change the tooth a should cange the spur:spidey:

Just depends on batt size? What are you trying to do?-high speed? hole-shots? fast/slow acceleration? It is pretty easy to change spur/pinion gear combos-probably take you 10-15 min for the entire job.

yep. changing different pinion/spur combos is fun though. See what your racing buddies are running. Lots of good combos to fit your needs/wants. Have fun--that's the main thing.

i prefer stock because it offers more acceleration and i like that on a track and it also offers a decent speed

it is just a little tiny black machined screw that goes threw the pinion. Take that off and slide the pinion gear off the motors rotor.
