I was looking for an "Efficiently Priced" brushless system. I found this:

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/37208

Looks like it'll handle a stock spec class pretty easy. Anybody have a bad experience with them? Or how about a good one? I did a search, and other systems were mentioned, but I saw nothing specific about this one.

Which one do you have? I was looking into getting this for an SC10. I figure it's not gonna be a high amp load, or see much high speed. The track is relatively tight and technical, so it'll spend the bulk of the time braking and accelerating.

Anyone have any horror stories to tell?

I wanted to know more about the 1/10 systems specifically. That thread is about the 1/8 systems.

Im running this one ive ran it to separate nights and it runs awesome. just cant keep temps down below 180 degrees ive changed gearing alittle and still likes to run 170-180 is this ok for this to run that hot i run about 10-25 mins total time on the track???? i running it in the sc10 trk and this one has plenty of power for what i want and runs consistant just those temps scare me

I would say that the temps are fine for your run times. Are you using lipo, because if you are, then that might be the reason why it is getting hotter than you think it should. Also, sensorless motors can run a little hotter, so dont worry about it. Check the motor after 7 minutes, if it is under 150 degrees, then your gearing is fine.

I plan on running this in my B4 for club racing. Does it have as much punch as a GTB or Sphere esc? because of the Amp ratings are only 30A with burst of 120A. Is this 3000Kv motor equivelent to a 17.5t motor or not because i need a stock motor for racing. And one last thought, is the speedo getting hot? Thanks for answers.

the motor is have is 13.5 i think(3300kv) the speed control is staying around 110 or lower.. yes i have a venom 2s 5000mah lipo in it ---------- according to what i know ( thats very little about electric ) that should be it for 17.5 the one in the above post for 99 bucks thats good for a budget racer------------- i also have the punch on mine alittle over half way like 6 out of 10 on the setup card

Ok, thanks, I just wasnt sure because of the low amp ratings compared to escs like the GTB but it doesnt seem to effect it. the kv rating for 17.5t is 2200kv so maybe since im club racing i can get away with the 3000Kv motor, i will just have to turn down my radio a little bit.

no problem like i said dont know much but if these motors--- as long as the temps are ok ill run them and try alittle lower pinion again and see if changes---- can you under gear a brushless motor at all ??

You can but only for a few minutes, it will get really hot. the best way to gear brushless motors, any to be broader is to go full throttle down the biggest straight away on the track. If you can hit top speed before 3/4 down the straight, then you are under geared. if you cant hit top speed, then you are overgeared. You want to be able to hit top speed right before the end of the straight away, unless the track is very, very tight, then gear down like 2 teeth from normal gearing.

It's a rebranded Hobbywing EZrun 13T combo

It's a 380 size motor in a 540 sized package which is why it has those fins in it.

They also make a 60 amp speedo with a proper 17.5t motor here

yes the track i run on is very very tight i have it geared about 2-3 tooth smaller than what it says in the sc10 manual and it runs still around 180 after 20 plus minutes or so
