Default Losi 2.0 E battery choice?

I just purchased a Losi 2.0 E and was wondering what size battery to use and what brand? The Losi 2.0 E comes with the 2100 KV motor so I would think runnung 5 cell would be to much. I am looking for the optimum combination to get maxiam run time and run cool. Also I was told to stay away from Maxamps batteries when it comes to running 1/8th scale, anyone have problems? I run them in my 1/10 scale stuff with no problems. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I personally look to have a battery pack has its continous discharge rating higher than the rated max amp draw of the motor. now, you will see spikes higher than this for sure, but, to me it works out as a good rule of thumb.

I would say a 4S setup would be good with the motor you have. How much are you wanting to spend per pack?

I have the Losi 4S in mine. It's kinda pricey, but works well and handles the required discharge rates. I don't think you would have any problem with a maxamp pack either. At the track on Saturday, the TQ of all 1/8 buggies (to include nitro) was an RC8-E running a maxamp battery. He ran a 20 minute main, but the race ended at 17 minutes because one of the marshals was struck in the ankle by a different car. His buggy was still going strong at 17 minutes...

Another question is I am having a hard time finding 4S packs that are hard cased, who makes them other then Losi? Are the Enerland Batteries worth the extra price?

SMC has a hard case 4S pack coming out soon.

Also, Enerlands packs are, IMO, definitely worth the price over the Losis.

There is currently another 4S hardcased pack available, rclipos sells it and I recall correctly its from thunderpower. Its sized for an AE tray however, you so you may need a spacer or something to take up the slack.

Go here for those lipos I mentioned:

http://www.rclipos.com/CarPacks.htm

scroll down till you see the 14.8V packs, they are mixed in, in a variety of cell types like 3200mah, 4200mah, and 5000mah.

I run 2 2s 6500 Maxamps in my Caster Fusion and love them.
I have no problems they are always balanced and give me 20+ min of run time.
