compare the threads on the shock body that is the problem with one that isn't. Maybe its tweaked somehow.

AE's 1/10 scale stuff (at least the SC10, T4, and B4 based stuff) uses a mix of standard and metric screws.

Has anyone ever heard of running Kyosho springs on the SC10 and if so, why? Whats wrong with the Associated springs?

I am assuming these also have a wider diameter like the losi BB that people are running? The issue that people are having is that the AE springs can rub the shock body. Those converting over feel that it can cause inconsistent reaction of the vehicle when that happens. The BB style springs don't cause this since they dont' rub.

Me personally I am not at the level where i could notice this.

They came out later than the B4 based vehicles. Probably to keep things somewhat simple.

If you have a virgin plastic SC10, you can always convert it over to metric.

I got a part box with just the AE standard screws all together just for that reason.

I can visibly see on my rears they are jusssssssssssssssst touching the shock. I have a complete set of springs that came with my rig and didnt see the point of tossing em and bying something else but might rethink that. Thanks for the info. I'm going on a shopping spree tonight anyway!!! LOL

honestly i think you may be better off saving the money and using it on stuff like tires, etc.

Unless there is a spring rate that Ae doesn't make that is just simply better to use.

But thats just my opinion.

AlanHall 01-20-2012 11:05 AM

what spring collars do you use with the larger springs? seems like one that fits the springs would be to big to fit the collar. its possibly in this thread the parts need

Cain 01-20-2012 11:10 AM

there was a discussion about the larger springs in the T4.1 thread. you may want to look there for more info. I dont' recall anyone saying they needed different spring collar however for the losi's at least.

I was one of the folks who tried the K springs on my B4. Nice springs and all but they certainly didn't get me on the podium and to be honest I didn't notice them being all that much more progressive than the AE springs. The standard Durango springs didn't rub the shock body and were a third the cost of the K springs.

I agree with Cain, save your cash and buy the right tire for your track. And then drive....a lot.
