Thanks but I might order it from Nitrohouse anyway, the USD in comparison to our currency is really cheap now so I made a bargain on my Hyper 9E and a crapload of stuff from Amain.

Only drawback is the tax, customs and freightcosts.

I realize the 2200 is a big motor for that buggy, I don't have a pc to set lauch control, can I use traction control on my tranmiiter to curb the power?, it is only for bashing so it shouldn't be a huge problem anyway!

Anyone out there fitted the Tyres I was talking about???

Yes, you can use your transmitter's controls. It has the same effect.

If you're talking about old-style foam inserts like these:
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...Tire-Inserts-2
Then I would suggest cutting them up to use as foam cushioning in radio boxes, battery trays, etc. Get some closed-cell foam inserts, such as these from AKA:
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...nsert-Medium-4
Old-style foam inserts will not last long in a high-powered brushless buggy like you're implying you have. It's really worth it to go with the new technology. In the meantime, you can make use of those old-style inserts by cutting a little off the edges, around their outer circumferences, to help them fit better into the tire.

Thanks for that info on the foams, I'll order some in the morning....

Another quick question, I bought a hitec 7945th for the hyper but decided to put it in my sc truck so it is water resistant and easier to clean the clay off. Will my old ace digital 1015 have the balls for the hyper9e or should I get another hi torque unit?

Default DS1015

IMO the 1015 is very good to serve steering duty in the Hyper 9E. I'm using one of these in my car.

Delrin is teh shit

Tight fit

Default 44Tooth Kyosho Non-Metal Spur Gear Mod- To Fit The Hyper 9E. Well Done Indeed.

Great Job Vic-
Truly Outstanding. I run this same 44Tooth Non-Metal Kyosho Spur Gear on my Hyper 9E and it's truly great. My only tools were the Dremel with cutting wheel, and a small file set. And a good solid 6 hours of perfecting the fit.

I really like your paint job as well, well done, great detail. If you'd like to make a few of those Kyosho 44T Spur Gears(with mod- and I'll pay you for your work), I'd certainly like to buy them from you. Keep up the great work. And your detailed pictures are also very clear and quite detailed. Thank you Vic.

PS. I held a file to the bottom of the chassis where the 44T Kyosho Spur Gear outer diameter was reduced to match the distance of the bottom of the chassis itself- rather than reach below the chassis and drag against the dirt upon landing hard and bottoming out on any part of the track- especially upon hard landings of any particular jump.

Ops, didnt realize until now that the spur is protruding outside the bottom of the chassis, thanks for the heads up!

btw, how did you solve the outdrive seal?, the Hyper oring was way to small, I tried a Kyosho oring but it was to thick, I then had to machine the oring slot in the spur 0.5mm deeper to get a good seal and still keep the outdrive spinning freely.

Default Outdrive seal with 44Tooth Kyosho Spur Gear Mod.

You are very welcome- anytime.
I used the Losi 8ight Diff Outdrive O-Ring-Seal- which may very well be the same size as the Kyosho O-Ring/Outdrive Diff Seals. The seal was initially a tight fit which I allowed to break itself in over time. I believe your modification of making the outdrive seal seat deeper for the larger seal- is the best solution for this modification.

You'll find having the buggy run at a medium to high rpm while holding a good file to the bottom of the chassis will make quite a little mess. I highly recomend doing this spur gear outer diameter trim outdoors, and using an air compressor to blast away any mess. Upon second thought, you may wish to remove the spur gear and using your proper tool for this job. If you have such a machine/tool. Be sure not to trim the outer diameter too much, the teeth begin to get quite thick once you've reduced the outer diameter of the spur gear. The thicker part of the spur gear- if allowed to become to thick- would begin to interfere with the Pinion/Spur gear mesh. For this reason alone, I allowed the Kyosho spur gear to remain an outer diameter which permit apx 1/2mm below the bottom of the chassis.

I'm debaiting which buggy to get AE or Ofna... I'm leaning to the AE because
I run AE SC10's Mod & Spec and AE parts are everywhere with lots of tech
help from the AE guys.

I've run a nitro Ofna buggy for a few years awhile back and loved it. The big
problem was high wear on the diff out drives and if I did not have a spare
part when it broke I was done racing for the day because I was the only one
racing one. Nitro House was (ALWAYS) very helpful with tech help, they are
1st class IMO.

I don't want high wear on the diff out drives again but I sure love the lay
out of the Hyper 9E.

My questions are:

#1 do the diff out drives last?

#2 does anyone make a plastic spur for it?

#3 What is the hot motor/ESC/battery combo for it? (I'm a Tekin fan)

#4 what breaks?? What spares do I have to carry to race and not be out
for the day??

#5 What mods are a must to race so if I order one I order everything
needed to race it without adding things as I go. I like my stuff right the
first time...

#6 has anyone owned & raced both the AE & Ofna?? and what was the
likes & dislikes with both buggies??

Thank you for any & all help with my questions...

Thumbs up

Hi Chuck,
I cant answer all of your questions, but I do know there is a plastic spur available.
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-42T-Spur-Gear

I race an SC10 and just bought a Hyper 9E
I read up on the nitrohouse website and bought the things needed to put their setup on the car
springs, sway bars, and shock and diff oils
