Default Slash 12T Vs compatable brushless ?

Folks, I have scanned thru the many threads looking for compatability between the stock Slash 12T and a compatable performance brushless. Bear with me if I missed it among the many threads. Some of us are looking to install brushless in our stock Slash for ease of maintenance and want to stay compatable with speed/performance of the 12T. Anybody experimented with this ? What wind would you suggest for compatability ? Thanks

if you put in a velineon system with the same nimh batteries, you won't notice a huge difference. You will get slightly more punch and better top speed. With that said, if you wanted to be almost exactly the same acceration wise, you would need a programmable ESC with throttle curves, IE CC mamba.

probably a novak 17.5 I think the 13.5's would be a little faster...the vxL system is fairly faster than the stock setup

Yeah it's been looked at several times and the bottom line is - if you're racing, there is no comparable motor. A 17.5 would be closest but you're just not going to find something that is equal if you're talking about equal for racing.

maybe go with something slower than 12T for brushless. That way, there is no complaints from guys using 12T motors as you are not faster than them. Maybe the 21.5 motors? Give some dual duty action from those running VTA?

I really wish traxxas would have made the truck brushless by default with there velion system

a good 17.5 is a tad slower on top end than the 12t titan motor,and really with 2 good drivers ,1 with 17.5,1 with titan, it usually comes down to who doesnt wreck.

i have ran the ezrun 13t combo and i like it.the motor is only 3000kv,and smaller(less torque)than regular 540 sized brushless motors.real close to stock.i like the power delivery more than a 13.5. just dont knock it til u try it.

traxxas didn't do this to keep the costs down and it's perfect for beginning hobbyists...it's strong and not to difficult to control...I am sure a vxl version will be released sooner or later...

I would say a 21.5 or 17.5 would be as close as you're gonna get...give it a try after some research and post your findings...good luck with your choice

I was racing a Speed Passion 13.5 with a Core-RC 3250 lipo in my Slash, a "Stock" Slash was just slow! Every where on the track!

Maybe a 17.5 would/could be closer.

====

Side bar!!

I put a 15x2 brush in it (stock esc will run it OK) and it was more like a 10.5 for power and speed! Just couldn't get it slowed down (stock tires) enough to make the turn(s) properly!! Changed to Edges and Step Pins on Losi rims, it was just SWEEEEET!

i ran a 13x2 on the stock esc with a 7 cell and it was lightning fast I also tried a 14x2 on 8 cells and that was crazy fast
