Default NiMH Batteries

What is your opinion on the best NiMH batteries on the market? I am looking at buying a 8cell 4700 MaH pack from max amps.

I have heard SPC are the best. They make and test the packs to order. I just ordered some and am waiting for them to arrive.

+1 for SPC. Great folks and the products are excellent quality. They also sell SMC.

This might be a stupid question, but is there a reason you are not considering going to Lipo? Honnestly, in most applications, they are the way to go even though it requires the purchase of a new Lipo capable charger.

Just wondering!

I bought a tunergy lipo charger off of hobbycity, which I think that losi re-badges as theirs for $37 plus $12 or so for the power supply.

It does lipo balancing, and can charge nimh and nicad also.

Fantastic charger for the money.

The Team Orion SHO cells are awesome. I still run them when I run nimh.

Going into my 2nd year racing (off and on-road). I like enerG 4600 cells (got ours from ProMatchRacing.com). I think they're a little cheaper from ProMatch than SMC per-cell. Even the non-matched cells are strong and a bit lower-priced if you don't need "the best" setup.

I'm holding off LiPo for a few more months. My son and I race and I don't want to buy tons of new stuff just yet. We just had a charger go, now down to three chargers for NiMH. If we lose another one this season, I'll pick up one LiPo charger + 2 2S packs for Mod T4 racing.

I know it's a hassle doing cell discharge/balancing on 6-cell packs. I enjoyed it, though, and learned a lot during our first year of racing. I'm just not ready to make it "too easy" just yet. I did like the relatively low cost or replacing a bad cell in a 6-cell pack than what would happen if one cell goes bad in a 2S LiPo.

lipo cells dont really go.. unless you overcharge them... they also have waaaaaaay longer run times and alot faster and lighter.... but i do here you about spending all kind of money to get them..
