If we are talking ROAR "Race Legal" 27t stock motors.. I would have to say the Epic Based Cobalt Co27 has proved itself to be a very reliable and fast stock motor. At my local track, the top several stock truck and buggy racers are brushed and use this motor. I do not find myself lacking for torque or speed against the brushless folks at all. These motors range in price from around $25 on sale to about $45 average for race tuned. I can get about three months or so of racing every weekend with these motors. I might go through 3-4 sets of brushes as well.
The Traxxas Titan motor is a 21T 550-sized motor...... they are sealed and cannot be rebuilt.. no replaceable brushes and the comm cannot be cut. Very short usable life.
Good luck!

The Co 27 stock motor is a nice motor, I ran one in my XXX-t and was impressed by the low end power and top speed (stock motor wise) Check out the tuned version from banzai motors. http://www.banzaimotors.com/

Fantom FAN30432 Ultimate Team Edition Custom Tuned Stock Motor (Silver) from Fantom racing www.fantomracing.com/ is better than the CO27 (which is an awesome motor) and still winning races all over Australia.
It has more torque with a little less RPM than the CO27 mixed with LiPo makes a great combination.

stock motors are fine if your a basher and don't carve speed but over time stock motors wear out cause some are made cheaply

I had real good luck with my Orion Core stock motor. I maybe slightly biased, but I did quite well with them. If I am not mistaken, it was the only brushed motor to make the A-Main at the Off-Road Nats last year in Stock Truck.......
