Default Trinity Komodo Dragon voltage rating?

I just upgraded my titan 12T motor in my traxxas rustler with the Trinity Komodo Dragon and noticed that it runs super hot. I am running a 7 cell "8.4V" battery and was thinking maybe that is to much. Is the Komodo rated for 8.4v or should I go back to 7.2v batteries.

I was also thinking of adding a heatsink and was wondering if the ones with the fan actually do anything more than the ones without. I would think there is plenty of air flowing around the heatsink all the time when the car is moving so there wouldn't be a need for a fan but maybe I am wrong.

What is a good heatsink that you guys seem to like.
