Those are the spring rates. The higher the number, the harder the spring. Fronts are 2", rear 2.5". Gray fronts and white rears are a good starting point for an SC5M. Also note that you want truck springs, not buggy springs. We're currently running AE gray fronts andKyosho gold rears on the SCX

in the list there is two listed gray front springs. This list was taken from the sc5m manual. The two gray springs are different rates but also different lengths. The shorter lengths seem to give you more tunabilty but is there any drawback from using shorter springs?

I think the 91637s are the most current version. That's what we run on the front. Fewer windings like the Kyoshos. Though they are listed as compatible, I think the 91329 was developed for the V1 big bore shocks starting with the 4 series platform. To make sure I'm not in error, you may want to check the SC5M thread. But it's a really big thread so it may take a while. I just want to make sure the info I gave you is correct

Thumbs up SPRINGS: 12 mm.

With a shorter spring, you may run out of room to correct your ride height.
I had to go with HPI purple on my E maxx(8 rear shocks).

Thanks for that post!

I didn't know that AE made a purple rate spring for the front!
I may need these.
*************Off topic*****************
Those may work for carpet trucks, but I don't run on carpet anymore.
I had to use reds and greens on the front to take away the steering and traction roll issues.(I could have used sedan springs)

Part of the reason we have Kyosho springs on the rear. Drilled 2 new holes about 1/4" inside and down of the original ones on the XFactory rear tower. Laid the shocks down and used the #1 hole on the arms. Great side bite, but had the preload collars near the end of the threads. The Golds are about 1/4" longer and slightly stiffer (Dammit Kyosho, you use the best springs but don't give rates for any of them) so the rear still comes down softly off the jumps.

Were you getting excessive weight transfer to the front on corner entry? How much rear droop were you running? May just need to add more limiters to the rear shocks.

We are WAY off topic, here. Yes,we did that, too. Sway bars would have fixed that as well.Traction rolls:same fix:Limiters. Thanks.

The 54mm/72mm springs are the "truck" springs. They are longer and more progressive. IME, they work better with the longer shocks on trucks. I actually run them on TLR SCT shocks on my Slash, lol.
