Newer lipos
Some of the newer lipos "Orion, Fantom....) you can charge at twice the amps, so keep that in mind when purchasing lipos. They charge really fast!

You sure about that?
At 1C a 5000Mah Lipo took me exactly 22 min 43 seconds to hit 8.4V At 2C that same 5000 Mah LiPo took 22 minutes 27 seconds to hit 8.4V Remember, the ramp down from 8.4 is the same no matter what charger you use so you can even add that to the equation. I urge you to try it, the only thing you gain by 2C charging is 25% less life expectancy of your LiPo

if you already have a power supply get the DC one.
I have the DUO is the best charger I have ever owned:nod: |

I recommend the higher output Hyperion 610 (250W) if you're running lipo. The 50w just won't have enough punch for a quick a charge. DC chargers w/ an external DC power supply are the way to go, the rating for built in AC/DC chargers is too low.

when i connect my (Venom 3600) NiMh battery to my new EOS0606i charger, i get to the charge screen and it reads like 8.xxx volts.
This is what I am doing.. plug in battery plug into wall (no balance plug connected) once its on i go to the nimh screen choose 3 amps hold down enter to start the charge and it started at 7.4xx and goes up does it not cut off when full? or am i looking at it wrong? 7.2v venom 3600 |
when disharging with the 0606i ac/dc, how do you go about a nimh 3600 battery? i wanted to discharge it, so i could recharge later this afternoon for a little run time before the work week. how many amps should i go for? its from .1 to 1 amp. the screen is like:
NiMH DISCHARGE D=1.00A 4.8V |
1A discharge, for sure. I discharge using an Integy charger at 4A - your discharge rate there is pretty slow (low). To discharge a 3000 pack if fully charged would take 3-hours. Why not just re-charge without a discharge? Should be fine for what you're describing.
>> does it not cut off when full? or am i looking at it wrong? 7.2v venom 3600 It will always be above 7.2v when charging. I just did an enerG 4600mAh pack and it was as high as 9.7v when charging. It "peak detects" when full. So, when it senses a drop in voltage based on the peak method it uses, it will stop charging. If the batteries are *NOT* warm when fully charged, it could be a false peak and you should just hit "charge" again and let it keep going. It should peak when done and the batteries somewhat warm. Discharging a sport-pack, like a Venom 3600 isn't really needed. Cell balancing is more appropriate but it's hard to balance a stick-pack, so the most appropriate way to handle a sport pack is charge to warm - then run a while. When the car starts to noticeably slow-down, stop driving. Let the pack "cool" a few hours and re-charge again fully. |
awesome, just wanted to know the proper way to handle this pack. thinking about using it in a mini slyder or slash. save lipos for the offroad truck.

can u charge lipo on the eos0606i ac/dc without using the balance plug? it says its recommended but I have heard people dont balance every charge. do i just let it keep going once my "balance plug not connected" screen pops up?
|
it doesn't say anything at all about NOT being safe....so we will see.
|
You will be fine as long as your battery is currently in good shape. And assuming you don't draw the battery down below 6.4V. It's good to balance the batteries now and then. But when you get a balancer why not use it every time? Doesn't hurt.
I don't balance my batteries every time. But I'm about due for some new ones. I think I'm approaching or over that 300 cycles mark. |
