Default Lipo charger help needed. (choices)

I have been out of the race sceen for a while. I need new batteries and my charger is ancient.

I want to just skip buying NiMh, and go strait to Lipo.

I have pretty much decided to go with the Trakpower batteries, but have no idea what to do for a charger. Since I don't see myself ever going back to NiMh the charger need not charge them. I am buying good batteries and want a good charger. Money is always a consideration (I have four kids ) Are there any good Lipo-only chargers out there that will save me a few dollars?

There is a hyperion one with a power supply built in and i see lots a people posting they are great. It does more then lipo but its small and self contained.Doesn't really discharge but thats really not a factor for all lipo.

I would say a Duratrax Ice or a Pulsar 3. I would recommend getting a trakpower balancer too.

I really like my Hyperion 0606i. Mine's DC only, but for almost the same price as an Ice you get a built in balancer and the ability to plug it into the wall. No memory, but if all your packs are the same it won't matter.
For another $30 you can future-proof your setup with the 610i net instead. 5 times more power and the ability to network two of them together.

Look no further than the Scorpion from FMA Direct.

The Hyperion line of chargers are great, they balance charge lipos + charge any other batts you may have, NiCd, NiMH,Lipo,Lithium Ion, even lead acid.

Hobby City sells the mega power poseidon 860DS it is the same as hyperion EOS0606i but sells for $40+ less. Check it out.

Whatever you get, I would get one with balancer function built into it. LOSI also has a lipo only charger out with balancing. I have the FMA Scorpion like the other person posted, and it works great. FMA has a new charger out that can charge 2 Lipo's at once and balance both at the same time, it has a electronic display and you plug it into a PC for a graph of your batteries.

mrc 989 & add a balancer of your choice. If you plan on running 2wd truck at any time then you will want a charger that can deliver at least 8 amps of current for charging 8kmah packs at 1c.

The MRC989 Super Brain is NOT recommended for some LIPOS....For everything else, that's a great charger.

Hi,

keep in mind that charging NiCd's and NiMH's is always quiet usefull and needed. For example for charging receiver packs as well as many other things at home (mostly AA's for multiple application).

Therfore I decided to buy a charger which can charge basically any common battery type on the market and I choose the Hyperion 0606i AC/DC.

I'm very happy with the charger and I think of even buying a second one so that I don't need any other type of charger anymore. I can then sell my LRP Pulsars and my power supply.

I wrote a review about this charger on our website which is (unfortunately) only available in Dutch. Perhaps you can Babelfish it to translate is to English.

Here's the link

Hyperion ESO 0606i AC/DC review [DUTCH]

Hope this helps,
Mike

That is what I heard, The list of Lipos not recommended includes Trakpower. This really won't work for me.

The Hyperion looks promising. I would like to know a little more about the Posiedon though. What about firmware updating?

Thanks for the help guys.
