curious, I wonder if losi could still do the pack down the middle but use a shaft instead of belt drive for a 4wd buggy?
i liked how Tamiya's cheapo DI buggy has the pack down the center, and I think they have a version with a belt too.
I guess it comes down to the benefits of the weight in the center versus other design considerations.
I just hope that the buggy from Losi wasn't killed because of them getting into more basher style stuff than racing.

cells and motor inline down the length of the car is great for stability since the car will turn slower - but for a 4WD buggy surely it's usually optimal to have the mass as centered as possible?

Just for a quick fact fix: Travis Amezcua and Adam Drake did run the JRXS-based prototype at the 2005 worlds. Jesse Robbers ran a XX4, throughout the race.
And yeah, short arms = not the best for off-road.

Not to mention, they had to rebuild diffs after every run! Seriously.

Damn that's an ugly body design! looks like they used a 2x4 for the mold!

The xx4 was made off of the street weapon and it works fine.
