Lipo in B4

Hi,
I'm thinking about getting a lipo battery for my B4 and I was wondering which ones will fit and which will perform the best for the money. I'm also wanting good safety features and I might have an alright deal on an Orion Platinum lipo so I'm tempted to go for that.

Any info would be helpful.

Thankyou.

Both of Orion's Lipo's will fit. You will have a little more room with the 3800. If you use the 4800 platinum you can use one battery spacer to space it fore and aft. It will fit tightly but that's what you want. I have used the Orion's for over a year and they work and fit well in B4, T4, and Losi cars.

Thanks for the quick reply!
Are there any other hard-cased packs that will fit in the B4? I just want to cover all possibilities.
I'd also like to know how long the orion packs would last for compared to IB4200's. I get over 30mins with 4200's in my B4 with a Checkpoint Money in practice mode.

Thanks

The Trakpower and the Core 5000 should fit as well. No personal experience with them however. I'm happy just running the platinums in my T4. Runtime is hard to tell for me. Running a brushless 6.5 in grass at mostly full throttle I get at least a half hour. Track should be better.

How many packs are you guys using for a race day?

Thinking of doing the lipo thing next year with a maxamps 8000mah since I heard you can pretty much run the whole day on 1 full charge.

I'm using 2 Max Amp 6000's. Works great. 8000's would be better. So I would guess 2 would be enough.

I know that 2 sounds weak but when you figure you can run between 10 & 20 minutes per pack thats a lot of practice. As long as you leave time to repeak one before the rounds start, all is good.

The white plug is a balance plug. With most Lipo's you need to buy a balancer for them to get them to charge and operate correctly. The Orion's have this option with a hole in the bottom of the battery, but do not require a balancer. I don't use a balancer with mine and have had no problems. I get around 25 minutes of runtime on the track with my old b4 and I'm running a brushless novka 5.5 and a digital servo.

Guess it depends on how much time you spend walking out to flip your buggy back over, then walk back up to the stand.

I would say yes. I get 15+ minutes of runtime (not upside down time, not marshalling time) with a 19T motor in a B3 buggy on an offroad track with old, beat up 3300s that only put out 2800 mAHrs. And that is after they have been sitting for an hour or so on my way to the track. So I would think 25-30 minutes out of a freshly peaked 4200 would be possible with a 19T motor.

Yeah I mainly just fool around when I'm just practicing and my track is not huge (in fact its quite small) so its not going flat-out the whole time. Plus the jumps are a little wrecked so yes I spend alot of time flipping it over and normally I just stand out there to save time
