Considering the HPI/Hot Boddies team used Associated Trucks and Buggies at the Nats last year, why would they not copy a proven dominate winner like the T-4.

Apearently they were running the t-4 w/ every possible mod & aftermarket part a racer could desire.
-most durable 1/10th truck on the market w/ alum. pivots
-3 piece shocks allow for easy refills & easy ring changes. Even though the stock ones are plastic they still perform great w/ a good set of o-rings.
-hex wheels keep rims nice and straight for lots of use
-ea3ish plastic, great for blown out 1/8th scale tracks
-bullet proof trans
-no e-clips
-larger hex head screws(longer lasting screws)

To be honest, I am surprised that the hb drivers aren't driving the firestorm line of trucks atm. The 10t has been proven @ the local level in many areas & I'm sure the right driver could push the chasis @ the national level.

I was running a Losi, but since their suport for the xxx-t has turned to crap I figured I would try something new. Since the e-firestorm advertised a bullet proof trans I decided to purchase a used roller. Well, let's just say that they stole the arms & towers off the hb lightning or something because this truck is built to endure long mains of mod racing.
I have learned from the 1/8th scale market that pretty much any roller w/ the right tuning options can be fast in the right hands. When it comes to purchasing a new 1/8th scale you pretty much pick out the one you think will be the most durable and reliable. Well, I took the same concept to 1/10th
2wd & ended up w/ the e-firestorm. I don't have any track time yet, but it looks like a very capable chasis that will be virtually bullet proof w/ the adition of alum. pivot blocks(looks to be the trucks one weakness).

You can also throw the shocks of a xxx-t onto the firestorm as well.

First Losi copied the T-4 front geometry and now HPI almost copied the entire truck.....I quess if you can't beat them, you copy them!!!!

Looks like a very durable truck!

I believe that alot of it has to do w/ the lack of losi drivers. Losi didn't have the same drivers that associated has had the past few years & horizon is just trying to sale more kits. These cars have pretty much reached their peak. If you want to go faster then learn more about setting up cars & what materials you want where. I mean, associated & losi have both been playing the materials game. When you run on 1/8th scale tracks the soft stuff shines. When you are on indoor blue groove tracks the stiff stuff shines.

typicaly you want a stiffer chasis for high traction areas where you want a super responsive car. When you run on inconsistant tracks you want to run the more durable stuff that will absorb your mistakes.

do not see that much difference with graphite or ea indoors. 2wd is 90% tire and foam combo no matter where you run.

losi copied???? when did the t4 come out?

if i remember .........a couple of years after the xxxt line started

cant think of much geometry changes............since all xxx look the same...LOL

and the new basher losi has a gear diff in it..........that may make the t-cr a gas ruck killer week in week out

When you run on blue groove the stiffer stuff will make your car more responsive so you can make those lines when you get an opening. You can still be fast w/out it, but having the stiff stuff will help you more when you have traction. These trucks all pretty much use the same geometries now. If you want to go fast then come w/ a great setup & a good set of driving hands. The right driver could still make a duratrax super fast just because it has the same tuning options as other cars on the market.
