Steath RC made me think of another thing. What do top impacts do to your whole double fan / esc mount? Are they pretty high up and vulnrable to getting completley inihilated?

Kopropo makes some analog servos and airtronics. If your running a 4s 14.8 volt pack your not using the esc bec you would be using a cutoff so the heat would not be an issue.

Hey guys, I just picked up a MM esc for a deal, Does anyone know what feigao motor would be close to my 6.5 hv? Would this be a viable option? Will I still need to run three fans? Or any?
Will I have to deal with any cogging issues? Any help here would be appreicated, Thanks, Rick

This may be pretty elementary, but regarding the CLUTCH talk a page back.

Couldn't we just slap on a clutch from a Losi xxx-nt to a Nue 1512 somehow?

Somehow make it able to screw onto the shaft and use a collet? I say xxx-nt because it is a bonehead simple clutch to use. To maintain it is also bonehead easy and replacing parts is a breeze. Let's move the motor back a hair use an NT clutch bell. Just thinking out loud, but in my limited "prototype innovation" mind, it seems real easy to do.

Would this releave some pressure off the esc? Give it a hair bit of lag to smooth it out? I hate to sound so "nitro" guys, but I just can't let go of a real clutch. The esc "pretending" to mimic a clutch with punch and whatnot just doesn't do it for me. Any thoughts? Am I the only one you've heard this from?

you should really drive an elec coversion first. Everyone that has driven mine has been impressed with how smooth the power comes on and how outstanding the brakes were without the fr/rr bias, not to mention the overall power and that was with a feiago 8xl on 4s with a MM. I now have a neu 1515 1y on the way.

Airtronics makes some of the best analog servos on the market for the time being!!!!!!

"you should really drive an elec coversion first"

I think you're right. I am speculating over something I have no real knowledge about. I am just going off what I feel it should be relating to nitro, instead of accepting what it really is and get used to driving it that way. So the clutch may be not as huge of an issue I'm making it out to be?

But are telling me that equal brakes are cool? Do you guys not whip around your back end very much? Especially on a tight turn you need that rear brake to push the rear around faster than the front? You guys saying that you don't do that? or just living with what the Mamba delivers you for brakes and calling it good.

The only reason I am challenging anyone here is because I want you to be right. I want to build an electric bad. I'm over nitro.

Yes, drive one. You won't miss the clutch.

Like I said in an earlier post, I miss having a touch more brake in the rear. I should actually say that at first I missed it. I've adjusted. It's not often, but If I need some tail-whip, I use the gas instead of the brakes. Believe me, any lap time you think you might lose as a result of this, will be more than made up at the exit of every single turn. Coming out of turns is where I make a lot of my passes when I race against the nitros. I can get up to speed much sooner.

Your goal is to have it all. It's a good goal, but I won't lie, the electrics are not yet the perfect race machines.

I have been racing 1/8th nitro since 1990, I lived in Japan and ran Kyosho Turbo Inferno. I was a die hard nitro guy that thought electric cars were toys. Then a friend of mine made me drive his XX4 with brushless and Lipo and it was a whole new game for me. Now I have 5 cars two 4wd one 2wd a truck and my EL8 and they are all electric (brushless and lipo) and no more nitro at all. I just started running electric last year. There is a different driving style used for electric than nitro. My EL8 drives just like a XX4 or my Tamiya 501x. With my old Kyosho SP2 it was a drive it in hard get on the brakes and slide it in the direction you need to go. With my EL8 I can carry higher corner speeds with less brake and actually drive it through the turns and exit much faster than I ever could with my nitro car. I am really interested in the winter time when I come out to MI and race against all electric cars.

The 8xl or 9xl works good, there is no cogging as it is a two pole motor like the castle motors. You will need the heatsink to hold the endbells on and you will need the fans.
