Getting into ebuggy with the RC8B3.2e. What Jconcepts body would work? Will be running the shorty 4c pack with the cut battery try mod that some are doing with the car.

They're more comparable to proline MC compount, right?
I can't seem to find the Smoothie 2's anywhere. There is not even a product listing on the Jcon website (or Amain, BeachRC, etc) that I can find. I know they exist as a local racer found some when he was traveling and visiting another track, but these seem to be non-existent at retail so far. Help? Getting into ebuggy with the RC8B3.2e. what is the closest tire to AKA impacts for 1/8 buggy? also reflex blockers and stalkers look very similar. which for what application? thanks

I know this has been asked a million times but I've been struggling keeping the JC tires glued to the wheels on 1/8 buggy. I have tried simple green, rubber tire prep, brake cleaner, and a bunch of other chemicals to clean the tires. Also I have scuffed the bead and wheel. I'm at a loss on what to do. It seems no matter how much I clean them I still get nasty looking residue on the blue glass towels. I've also tried about 6 different glues. I'm no pro at gluing but can do a pretty decent job. Any input would be appreciated

My process:
Scuff Wheel Wipe Wheel and Tire with Acetone Let Dry Use Jconcepts Thin Glue(keep glue stored in refrigerator when not in use) Go SLOW when gluing the tire to the wheel. I had a problem with going too fast and the glue was basically getting pushed out between the tire and the wheel. The tires were coming unglued and it looked like no glue was even used. Good Luck. There are few things as frustrating as watching a wheel come undone during a race. |

Mainly though it sucks cause I know I put the time and effort in for the prep work on gluing and it still happends. I will slow down the process and see what happends |

Any input would be appreciated "Straight" simple green is still my favorite cleaner, but there are a few things that people tend to overlook. When cleaning with simple green, it's important to clean each tire and then make sure it's completely dry before putting on the wheel. Also be careful if cleaning the tire with the insert already in the tire. It's very easy to get excess simple green into the insert (like a sponge) and then when you put them on the wheel and install your tire band, it will squeeze out a little moisture into the mounting bead and mixes with the glue. Also make sure the wheels stay in the sealed package until you are ready to mount the tire (no need to clean wheel if you do this). I don't like when racers mount large amounts of tires at one time like an assembly line. I see many racers do this trying to save time going into a big race, but there are to many things that can happen while all the tires, wheels, etc are sitting out during this lengthy process. The tires, wheels, rags, etc can pick up dust while sitting, you could have a bad bottle of glue and now hundreds of dollars in tires are bad. Could miss cleaning a tire much easier. I recommend mounting 1 or 2 sets of tires as needed. Glue is obviously important; the updated medium Jconcepts glue is amazing and thinner than the old med and our original thin is really good too. The Protek glue is good and the round bottle PL glue is really good. The AKA glue was good, but I don't see many guys using it anymore. |
They are the older tires for sure i bought a big lot from the classifieds here. Thanks for the tips. Hopefully I start having some better luck. Its kinda strange I went forever without having issues but for the past 6 months I've been getting whooped by tires.

Just about all the current inventory are the updated rubber, and don't have those issues anymore ;) |

That makes sense. All rubber experiences "blooming", but for some reason it was really bad and the rubber was turning brown. With that brownish blooming over a long period of time, it's going to be very difficult to get them completely clean. I recommend cleaning them multiple times with a microfiber and then mount and glue them right away.
