So here are a few of the things we've been working on.

Although 2 shims is standard, every part is sometimes a little different. Make sure to check the "Mesh" just like you would for the spur/pinion. I usually tighten it up until there is no play in the mesh, the move the diff back over 1 shim (take out of the left, add to the right (gear side).

Also, if you are stipping gears, make sure to replace both. Chances are, if one stripped, the other is damaged.

Think of it this way... something has to give when you land on throttle. It should give on the slipper first, then diff 2nd option, gears, the last and worst of all. If you are stripping gears, chances are your slipper should be loosened a touch, and you diff might be a little on the tight side as well.

Very cool tires, any plans for 10th scale ones?

I used to have problems stripping rear diff gears (about 8 or so sets). One of the problems I had was the transmission case screw holes were a bit worn out and stripped, so the cases were not staying together correctly and letting the gears get out of alignment. So I replaced the cases and used slightly longer screws to hold the case together. I also shimmed the gears so that there was a bit of binding and let the gears wear in a bit. Lube the gears a bit with stealth diff grease and make sure you keep the gears and lube on them clean. Any dirt stuck (or worn gear material) in the teeth will push the gear mesh away from each other and start stripping. Make sure when you shim the gears, that there is no excess play. I would imagine that under load the diff ring gear could flex and deflect slightly enough to allow the gears to strip, so keep the tolerances very tight.

My shim setup is not far off from the instructions, One outdrive shim on each side of the diff, with one shim behind the drive pinion and two shims after the center drive shaft.

Sorry but I believe that 'mess' is what you get if your 'mesh' isn't right. Seriously though I'm glad that the thread went this way as I'm needing to redo my diffs and have never done this type before. So keep the tips and advice coming.

hey all:Would like to know what the specs on the new jconcept tyres are and wether or not they are made by pro-line or are jconcepts owne design and manufacturing?Finally what scales and vehicles types will the new jconcept tyres be avalible for?Thanks for the info :spidey:

Pr*line should be bleeped out in this thread, haha. The tires are DEFINATELY NOT made by Pr*line. We will have tires for 1/10th truck, buggy, and 1/8 buggy as of right now.

Just no 4 wheel fronts from a company that created the best 4 wheel ever. Oh the irony (meant to be a joke just in case you were wondering).:p
