its runs on nitro just like any other nitro car.

and thats wat im saying..even though these cars are aimed at 16+ year old kids...when lil 10 year old johnny wants one...and blows it up, or hurts himself or someone else...this hobby might just be screwed because parents and other people that dont really know anything about this hobby will think this hobby is really dangerous

When I was a kid, 30 years ago, Cox and Testors both sold Nitro cars and trucks. The non-rc ones from Cox, called the Blaster series were under $20.00. They sold fuel and batteries at Sears and there were a lot more hobby shops than there are now. We had three hobby and rc stores within a block of each other in the 70's. Less kids at home building kits and more playing Xbox or smoking weed.

Old, post. But yea, its sad. I hate that they want to start this crap. This isn't there terrioty. They need to stay with Wolly World or at least make a good electric first.

Hasbro + Nitro RC = Not that serious. I really dont think it will be that big of an issue. I got my first glow powered RC plane when I was 9 or 10 (Aircore 40 Family Trainer not to mention 5 times the potential for serious bodily harm). There were other kids who also had glow planes (one kid had a Kyosho Inferno DX in elementary school). The hobby is becoming more popular and children are being intorduced to "hobby-grade" rc products at a younger age. We had young kids with nitro powered cars at my old track in Ohio. Every now and then we would have a run away car/truck, or someone would turn their radio on in the pits but those were adults messing up. Hasbro making a nitro powered car may seem "different" to those of us who have been into the hobby for a while. But to the newby at Walmart, it's totally new and cool. Like hip hop, there is enough room in the industry for another company.

I wasn't so much thinking about the age, as the quality and parts supply...

Flying_Ace

As for parts supply and overall quality, that may (or may not) be an issue. With old department store rc cars, if something broke you usually had to get a whole new car. Maybe this will be different, who knows. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.
