Default Swapping Armatures ?

I know I should just buy the latest Blah Blah motor, but I probably wont. I WILL probably buy another motor very soon, but for now, help me out with what I HAVE to work with.
So, Ive got a Core Modified with a VERY worn out comm., what would happen if I put an arm. from a Race Prep Stock motor in it? The Core arm. says TOP19, the RP arm. says EPIC27.
Is there anything "wrong" with swapping arms. between cans?

Pretty sure for racing purposes, you're not allowed to mix and match different brands.

But for bashing/practice that will work fine. Just be sure to get the armature shimmed to the correct position within the can. The armature will have a position in the can that it "wants" to sit at - as a result of the magnetic forces. You need to shim either end of the comm to make sure it sits correctly in this position.

There should be no problem... I make these Frankenstein motors all the time. Like mentioned above - make sure you shim the arm properly though.

It will perform very similar to the motor you are removing the arm from. The only performance increase you could expect would be a result of:

Going from a motor can with bushings to one with bearings
Going to a motor can with better condition brushes and springs
Going to a motor with stronger magnets

BTW it's worth cutting the comm and throwing some new brushes in whilst youve got the motor in pieces.

I think it will run in reverse as i have done this. You can still use it but + will now be -. I think because mod arms, or more to it hand wound arms are wound in a Hemi Style to get the strands in in even loop at the com not cross over each other like a machine wound arm. Due to this method the windings are opposite to a machine wound arm. IF you are swapping arms from a machine wound arm to another machine wound arm this will not happen, the core is a hand wound mod.

Have fun you have nothing to loose just test before you race it...
