The truggy looks great!! Damn sexy ride :D
Does anyone know what setup the pros are using?

wake 07-03-2006 01:58 AM

Looks pretty nice.

BringItOn 07-03-2006 03:57 AM

hasnt the Mbx5->mbx5T conversion kit been out for over a year already?

nc-hopsing 07-03-2006 04:06 AM

This is the actual truggy, not the conversion. Its got the long arm suspension and other refinements that the MBX-5 conversion doesnt have.

Nitro$junkie 07-03-2006 06:01 AM

will there be a pro spec version

nc-hopsing 07-03-2006 07:13 AM

I believe I heard that there will be.

party_wagon 07-03-2006 07:31 AM

A local guy races 4 mugen said that mugen actualy did their home work on the truck and this is all you will need. He says it is just as bullet proof and wears just as well as the mbx-5 pro spec. If you recall the mbx-5 was updated because people were running the new parts form other companies on the buggy. The new truck is suposed to come w/ all the goodies that currently exist. If there are enough updates to the truck then I'm sure a new kit will become available, untill then this is the hot ticket. If you take a good look at it, those aren't ball cup braces like on the original buggy. Those towers are suposed to be machined, and the buggy is suposed to be hour long main race ready.

The Mugen guys were out at Revelation last night with the truggy. They didn't race it, but they were out running practice. Some friends of mine that run truggy class were checking it out in the pits and on the track and they couldn't stop talking about how dialed it was. :D

Hey Madjack...where do you race?

Hey Madjack...where do you race?

most often at Rev...however I shelved the buggy over the last 2 months and been practicing at Tamiya for the TCS Regionals/Nats...will return after that. (want to finish better than last year ;) )

(last off road race was the Proline Maxx Challenge)

Turbo Joe 07-16-2006 08:04 PM

I might run TCS next weekend. I need some new t-shirts.

Lemme know when you come back to Rev...you run a Mugen, right? There are usually a bunch of us Corona folk there, you can pit with us...

You going to buy the truggy when it comes out?

NP-1 07-16-2006 09:10 PM

The new truggy is nice...but there's some other news:

1. The truck will ship with proline crimefighters and offset velocities.

2. There will be a prospec...its just a blingy version of an already blingy truck.

3. The red springs are just for show.

Spoke with Mugen USA today. It appears the they will be shipping 3 version of the truck:

Stardard MBX5T
MBX5T Prospec
MBX5T Prospec with motor & pipe.

Delivery should be within the next 3 weeks. :D

ahsikes 07-19-2006 01:31 PM

the biggest expense was a new motor (novarossi P5X), pipe & JR Z9000T servo. I got some more King Headz stuff that it did not already have. I got some tools and a screw kit for it as well. I took the airtronics servo out of it and put it in my Jammin so I needed a new servo. I am not sure how reliable the Collari B7 is so I opted to get a new mill for it.

Hope to see you back on the dirt with an 1/8 scale soon!

ahsikes 07-19-2006 01:45 PM

Last hijack. Are you running the Regionals? pm the response or move it to the florida racing site.

wickedklown 07-27-2006 05:55 PM

Nice to find some other mugen lovers here. I cant wait to get this new truggy. Mugen always makes great buggys. We got to see this buggy in CA a couple weeks ago..
I have a Mugen buggy, and a Jammin CRT truggy.

Love the truggys..

I just pre-orderd the new mugen truggy from www.myrcsupply.com, there offering free shipping. Suppose to be shipping them between the 1st and 3rd of Aug.

anyone here from the Las Vegas area?

Interesting... Whats the model number for the one with a motor and pipe? Iv been calling all the shops around, and no one has a model number or defenit answer on the release of the prospec+enigne+pipe.

Is the engine suppose to be the Ninja .21 -B? or what? Ill prolly just run the JP2 pipe. Also is that include a header?

party_wagon 07-27-2006 06:10 PM

From the looks of things the standard truck will wear realy well, it looks like it will flex more then the pro-spec, but it should be much better then the standard mbx-5. As far as the mill is concerned, I have heard that the ninja pipe is realy the way to go. A jp2 just isn't a good fit for it. If it is the same quality of mill as the mt12 then I'm pretty sure that you won't be complaining come 5 gallons from now and it's still ripping just as hard as it did after a gallon.

Man what a difference...Before I bought this truggy I joined the bandwagon with my friends that all have Jammin's. I bought one and put it half way together and it just didn't feel good while putting it together...warpped plastic parts, slop and had to shave arms so they would move freely.

This is not the case with this truck....it is going together super smooth...just like my MBX5 did.

I have a brand new in box Jammin Pro Truggy and One Piece Motor Mount for sale...$500.

Here are some more pic...I would of finish but its pretty hard to wrench with a new 2 month old baby...will send more pics soon.

o.s. power 08-02-2006 09:54 AM

not only that, but how do they get the correct gear ratio, is like the kyosho with the high ratio diffs or is it like the jammin, the ferris wheel sized spur gear?

TonysScrews 08-02-2006 08:02 PM

The wheels are non-offset (same as the Kyosho ST-R, Thunder Tiger ST-1 and Hellfire). That's why Mugen has the short 17mm wheel adapters. You could always run the standard 17mm short buggy hexes with the Jammin CRT 28mm offset wheels and the truck would be the same width. Personally, I'd rather run the short adapters with the non-offset wheels. You have more wheel choices (Mugen, Kyosho, HPI, Ofna and ProLine now makes 17mm non-offset truggy wheels), plus you can get to the hex much easier with your fingers and tighten with any wrench. This is very important when you're racing and for some reason a wheel nut loosens up or comes off. You have a much better chance of someone getting you back out there.

As for the short wheel extender, like I said above, it's just there to adjust the wheel offset. It has no impact on performance like the old MSR conversion wheel extenders. The Kyosho ST-R comes with standard 17mm buggy hexes, but they'll soon be releasing extenders like the Mugen has (team drivers are already testing them and like the truck a bit wider).

As for the spur gear, the Mugen MBX5T uses the stock 46T buggy spur gear and 13T clutchbell. It is the ONLY truck to use the smaller buggy spur (ST-R, ST-1 and LSP all use a bigger 50T spur. The Jammin CRT uses a HUGE 62T spur). The Mugen MBX5T has a new set of ring & pinions (46T ring gear and 10T pinion gear). The overall gear ratio is very low at 16.28:1. You can also run the buggy option 44T spur gear. The CG is very low and centered on this new Mugen truck.

Best regards,

Diffs

I was wondering if they changed the pins in the diffs. That was the only thing I hated about the conversion and was hoping that they fixed that.

If you're referring to the small pins behind the large beveled gear inside the diffs that sheared in the old MSR, they shouldn't be an issue on the new truck. Once I got rid of the long wheel extenders on my Tony's Screws long arm conversion and the lighter CF, Bowtie MT and Boas came out, I never sheered another one. The new truck has even less weight at the wheel and they lost the 22mm of wheel extension.

M.Cartwright 08-04-2006 08:38 AM

When I had a Mugen, sometimes I would shear diff pins, but the diff still worked, it just had a lot of slop from outdrive to outdrive, but the three little pieces of pin somehoow still allowed the diff to function.

BringItOn 08-11-2006 05:06 PM

can the x5t fuel tank fit the buggy?
