Default Looking for good cheap ESC motor combo (x-ray xb4 '21)

Just bought a used xb4 '21 and looking for a motor speed.control combo that would be cheap but fast. Im looking at the hobby wing quick run wp 10bl120 with a ezrun 3660 4600kv. Would that be ok? I see it's sensorless. Is that bad?

You want a sensored combo.

Ruddog cheap sensored motor would do the job (50 bucks). If you are running Mod, go for 5.5t to 7.5t motor depending on the track.

As for the esc, you could go with the Hobbywing Quicrun 10BL120 G2 (50 bucks). Should handle any motor. Don't expect much about programming or throttle feel

Isn't that ESC not compatible with a sensored motor? To be ran sensored I mean.

+1 the surpass and rocket motors aren't all that bad
you can use that yes. It's smooth. Sensored. Has some good basic stuff but limited on drag brake % and punch ect. Limited on features you might be intrested in 3-6months later.
Hths you make your choice. I'd say get the 80a hw esc. Not the $60just stock or the one u posted. I run em though.

Why isn't? The Quicrun 10bl120 is the same old Xerun V2.1

The most important question here is what are you doing with the car?

If you’re just bashing you can put anything you like in it.

If you’re planning on racing, what class, mod or stock?

Less programming options and brakes not as strong - but they are based on the same design.

The new 10BL120 G2 is better in this regard and also has boost and turbo.

The SkyRC Ares motors are a decent motor and pretty cheap

If you’re racing modified, That is usually reserved for a bit of seasoned racers, So if you’re a seasoned racer, I would think you’d have that knowledge on hand.
Seems a tad curious asking this question.

Might not be based in the US - here in the UK it's rare to find stock classes for off-road. We all race mod.

It's just a a single class....it's outside offroad.....no other class to run for buggy beginners and pros are together. Not in the u.s I'm up in Canada.

Honestly for mod you should buy a good racing spec ESC. The tuneability you get with them is a key part of what makes running mod more managable.

A good mod esc has tons of settings that really let you soften the inital power so its much easier to drive, and then dial in how smooth it is overall. I easily made my 2wd mod with a 7.0 motor way easier to drive, and still clear a giant quad an old layout I raced on. Its just not possible with the cheaper escs, and its a huge difference.

Yes, you can do a Quicrun 120 with up to a 10.5 iirc. There are both sensored and unsensored Quicruns. I’m running a 60 amp one with a 17.5.

Save up some money and get your hands on a Hobbywing XR10 pro combo. It would be a lot easier to drive. Otherwise you will be buying electronics twice. There's a huge difference
