I noticed that with X ray wheels , had to use a washer between the nut and wheel

or ream out the nut where it goes against the wheel and will fit over that step in the axle

No issues here with JConcepts and Raw Speed AE offset rears.

For those wanting an adjustable front hex, the Vision Racing front axle for the 22 5.0 and AE 4mm hex are pretty well spot on.

Can anyone confirm what other pistons work? AE or Avid 13mm?

Has anyone come up with an updated carpet setup using 2 or 3 hole pistons?

I can't comment on a carpet setup but AE 2.5mm pistons fit, though you'll need a small spacer (I used some spare under piston washers) between the piston and screw.

Thanks!

Is that spacer in addition to the Mugen kit washer that goes under the piston?

Yep, so the stock washer under the piston and an additional thin washer/spacer above the piston.

Can't comment on how well it does on carpet but when you think that it's basically a TLR 22 5.0 w/13mm shocks, front end mod (but with less scrub), 22x-4 length rear arms and essentially a +4mm chassis, plus the great (and beefy lol) high quality plastics and fit and finish, it's a really good platform. Not ground breaking by any measure but a high quality, well designed buggy.

Posted this on FB, figured I'd post it here as well:
For those of you, like me, who are cannibalizing your 22 5.0 to see what works on the MSB1 I thought I'd share this. The MOD TLR 22 featherweight ball diff kit fits (.5 mm narrow so need to shim if you want) and saves 10g compared to the stock Mugen ball diff. Reused the Mugen diff gear and larger diff balls, everything else is MOD. Since the Mugen pins in the bones and axles are larger I swapped those to TLR as well so everything fit. Not saying you should run out and get all these parts but if you already have them, go nuts lol

For the club and regional guys - how’s this competing against the current market? Seen some local news on the car, want it but not entirely sold. Is it the update the TLR guys were after or can it really compete with the 5 gear kits?

Default Front Wheels.

Hi, just finished the build and it went together well. My only issue is the front wheels. I race in the UK and tend to run Slim fronts. The Schumacher Slim front wheels are on the list as being ok but the front of my car is too narrow compared with my B7?

Any ideas which wheels work and are also at the correct offset?

TIA
John
