How to make a Typhon handle better on track
A couple months ago I bought an Arrma Typhon 3s BLX for my son. It was a smoking deal and gives him something to play with the big boys when we go to the local 1/8 track. So far he loves it, and I’m pleasantly surprised with how durable it’s been, other than it likes to bend shock shafts.
He is improving enough that he commented on how it doesn’t turn as well as my buggy and truck, and he’s right, the thing has very lazy handling. Probably great for high speed bashing, not so much for a tight track.
What would you all recommend as first steps to make initial turn-in (off throttle) a little sharper? It has no center diff, and apparently it comes stock with 10k diff fluid front and rear. I am thinking I will start by putting 7k in the rear? It’s already got pretty solid toe out up front.
Any other suggestions?
thanks

not expecting a massive transformation here. I think duff fluid will help a lot. Just always appreciate other’s suggestions.
track is medium/low grip, hard pack underneath dust and some loam.

thinner front diff oil, remove front swaybar (if any), softer front springs/oil, make sure you have EPA set on servo

I helped someone at the track with their Typhon this weekend and some of the changes that dropped his lap times over six seconds were.
- Med/Low traction tight track
- Diffs 3/10/5 - should probably have dropped to 3/7/5
- Gave him a set of Hot Race Big Amazzonia Super Soft
- Had him turn the punch down from 7 to 3 on a spectrum esc
- Lowered his ride height to I believe 24 F 27 R - This was much lower than what he had
- Added in some additional droop

5k front and 3k rear works for me

Are you still running the stock servo? A servo upgrade would probably make a huge difference.

You can try changing the diff fluid to make it turn sharper when your son lets off the throttle. Since it doesn't have a center diff and comes with 10k diff fluid front and rear, you could start by putting 7k in the rear. This might help with the initial turn-in. Also, since it already has toe out up front, you might not need to adjust that. Keep an eye on the shock shafts too, since they tend to bend.
