  • New larger 3.5mm turnbuckles with updated rod end style ballcups to increase durability and reduce bind in the suspension
  • New center bulkhead fan mount that mounts the fan above the motor for better cooling performance
  • New -2mm wing mounts for use with slicks and low-profile carpet tires to further lower the center of gravity
  • +3mm aluminum steering rack for optimized bump steer at low ride heights
  • 66mm Rear CVA drive shafts and axles for more on-power traction and more predictable driving feel
  • For the RC10B74.2: 2-pad high-load, high-capacity center slipper clutch with LCF pad material

A few things that are different. Not sure if enough for a new one. I guess it'll depend on the price point I can get one for?

I probably won't upgrade yet. The things I like about the updates, I've mostly fixed already on my .1 (battery mounting, fan mount). I think I'll like the 13mm shocks better, but I'm still adjusting to them on the B6.4 and not quite happy with how it's landing. I think if you already have a dialed setup, it won't be worth upgrading. If you're shopping for a new buggy, this is definitely a good choice.

Upgrades seem veeeeeery similar to those done to the 22x-4 elite, which is honestly a great thing in my opinion. I’m glad they ditched that adjustable diff height system that only seemed to add unnecessary weight to the car. I too can’t quite figure out the 13mm shocks but I’m guessing they’ll be a much better fit in a heavier four wheeler.

I wonder if the inserts are B6 compatible inserts or something different. It would be nice if they are the same.

I have all the parts to build 13mm shocks so that part is out of the way.

Yeah I'm curious to see how this diff design will work on the B74. The B6 uses those disks to move just the diff itself up and down, and I'm not sure you can get away with that with the ring and pinion used on a 4x4.

I saw pic and they are using disks. I get what you're saying and wonder if there is a corresponding disk for the pinion?

I think the gull-wing arms/tower is going to be a huge difference. One of the biggest weaknesses of the old car was the twitchy-ness, this should help tremendously (similar to when they changed the arms on the truck).

Most likely won't be able to bolt the new tower onto to the old gearbox, and probably won't be able to bolt the new gearbox onto the old chassis....which means I'll be getting a 74.2

Surprised they changed to thicker (and probably heavier?) turnbuckles, when they are trying to save weight. I don't remember ever having an issue with the old ones on any of my 64/74 cars. New ballcups are going to be a big hit with those who preferred the old b5m ballcups, though!

Also, the AE guys did really well in 4wd MOD and 13.5 it at the ROAR nats. I wonder if any of them were running B74.2 components. Looking at some of the pics I'm willing to bet some of them were at least running 13mm shocks...

All except the battery hold down. That is a step backwards.

I'd bet many were running all the components.

For those running 3.5MM turnbuckles on the 2wd, I wonder if those ballcups will carry through. Drilling isn't a big deal, but one less thing to do.
