Welcome to the SO1.0 - YZ-2 DTM3.1 / CAL3.1 Wiki!

More about SO1.0

Where does SO naming come from?

Yokomo recently took advantage of the newly released Elite / Factory Kit to rename it's current product lineup. SO naming means Super Off-road 1.0. This is a common naming style for Japanese Gunpla models. The higher the grade the more detailed a kit would be.

Does that mean that Yokomo will be releasing more 2WD kits?
Basically, yes. There's a new RO1.0 or Rookie Off-road car kit in the works. Taking a look to Yokomo roadmap, it's expected to be released in Q1 2023.

New SO1.0 Features

The SO1.0 is all in one kit, combining best of both high grip and low grip worlds.
  • Short specification main chassis for carpets. Using the older CAL3 spec chassis.
  • Aluminum front suspension mount, DTM3.1 based.
  • Z2-DTM2B F2 body.
  • Gokuraku off-road wing set.
  • -3mm front shock tower, CAL3.1 spec based.
  • Low RF and RR mounts, CAL3.1 spec based.
  • 4.3mm front and rear hexes, CAL3.1 spec based.
Many alloy upgrades included:
  • Standard size front aluminum camber mount.
  • Aluminum rear camber mount.
  • Aluminum steering bellcrancks.
  • Aluminum steering rack.
  • Aluminum bellcranck base.
  • Ti coated front and rear shock shafts.
Best of both worlds:
  • Gear differential and ball differential included in the kit.
  • LD and LC transmission cases included.
  • Sway bars included.
  • Both carpet and dirt shock pistons.
  • Carpet and dirt shock springs.
New DTM3.1 Features
  • Long specification for dirt Main chassis Inheriting the chassis cut of dirt specification, it is longer with the same wheelbase as CAL3.
  • Aluminum front suspension mount.
  • Z2-DTM2B F2 body.
  • JConcepts ASTRO High Clearance 7inch Wing.

New CAL3.1 Features
  • Long specification main chassis for carpets. Long wheelbase that enables even higher speeds.
  • Steel front suspension mount.
  • Z2-DTMBL S2 Lightweight body.
  • Z2-CAL2W LMR Wing.
New DTM3.1 / CAL3.1 common features:
  • The conventional position and the position of the suspension arm pin 1 mm higher can be selected on the front and back of the front suspension mount.
  • Bulkhead integrated side plate with increased rigidity.
  • The kingpin position has been changed with the new steering hub carrier, the axle position has been lengthened by 1 mm, and a steering stopper has also been added.
  • Battery holder that is easy to adjust according to the height of the battery.
  • Separate the rear mount base and upper arm holder to increase the flex around the rear and improve traction.
  • Z2-018-5 5-hole shock mounting specification Rear shock tower.
  • S4-S1S 3.0mm shaft specification front shock.
  • S4-S1M 3.0mm shaft specification rear short shock.
  • S4-008R5B L5 / LD Rear suspension arm (Φ3.5 pin).
  • Z2-01069 Rear universal shaft (69mm bone).

Curious to see what pistons they look to include with the cars. The shocks when you buy them separate don't appear to come with the 2.2 or 2.0s from the pics.

Yeep, I'm curious too. Camber link mounts also look different.
Sad steering rack hasn't been updated to bearing rack and the battery holder still look like trash.

I think I will keep the cal3 with me and also get a cal3.1

Are the camber link mounts a problem for these? Plastic seems a bit iffy.

I think cost wise the big thing will be if they are changing the chassis. I'd say if you hit stuff, the new shock shafts being a bit thinner can bend a bit easier that CAL3 ones. Its not excessive in my opinion, but I'd say just keep that in mind. Also if they use the 0.5mm limiters inside the shocks put in a 1mm instead right away. The 0.5mm can bend at least that is what i saw in my YZ4SF2 shocks.

If you mean the camber link mounts on the rear carriers, those are the same as the YZ4SF2 and I think what comes with the aluminum carriers.

I haven't seen an issue personally. I just prefer the aluminum. We have kids running those camberlink mounts in the sportsman classes with great success as far as general durability.

Front camber link mounts look the same as before with the 2 options of "standard" and "narrow".
Rear camber link mount looks like a plastic version of Z2-30RUMW, but with the centre hole position only. Looking at the aluminum part, the holes are probably too close together to put all 3 holes on the plastic part.

Could be interesting. The new +1 front arm mount should work nicely for the truck on carpet as well.

No issues here as long as u are using correct length ballstuds. Only had an issue with front turnbuckles. Solved it adding titanium ones.
Steering bellcrancks were a weak point. Added a longer ballstud where servo steering link goes and no more issues since

I never use shock limiters with "thin" pistons if not really needed to limit droop. Those shock limiters are recommended to avoid the piston getting stuck at the bottom at full extension. On the cal3 shock ends hhad enough thread to limit shock droop to correct lenghts

Problem though with that 0.5mm limiter bending can get stuck in the body. 1mm works better.

Yokomo shock bodies are very short. When using stock 22/28mm droop, if you add limiters, shock pistons may hit top plastic cap. I just don't use any inside limiters

I'll have to take a look at that. I am not using any uptravel limiters and I don't recall any cap hitting issues when building the shocks. Also running the spec slash class here, that is something we have "fun" watching for lol

Got a link?

All, what are some things we are wanting to see in a wiki? can look to start adding up stuff that would be useful to this particular model. Right now I am thinking:

- Simplified Spring Chart (similar to what is on the facebook group)

Yokomo answered that in their FB page comment.

I added many useful info to the wiki. It would be great to add links to aftermarket parts but I would wait for the release before posting any of that
